Most Searched Neighborhood on Zillow Now Taking New Residents

Share News:

The Hollywood Hills in LA. Camelback East in Phoenix. La Jolla in SoCal. And the Upper East Side in NYC. What do these famous neighborhoods all have in common? [Cue the “WhompWhomp” sound effect, please.] They were all bested by NORTHEAST DALLAS in a recent ranking of the most searched neighborhoods on Zillow. Yep, coming in hot at No. 1 with 36,113 daily views from around the country, is this delectable, pie-slice-shaped area in Texas’ third-largest city.

For purposes of this article, the area is defined loosely as anything inside I-45/75 to the west, I-30 to the south and I-635 to the north and east. Prices here average $465,173, and the median home value is $425,393.

Guess what’s smack-dab in the middle of the pie? That cherry on top we all know as White Rock Lake. But the beauty, topography and recreational opportunities offered by Northeast Dallas aren’t the only things making people want their own sliver of the slice. Searches are also driven by how affordable and safe the area is, how good the schools are, the value for the money, and how reliable the public transportation is/how short the commute to city center. Each of those criteria are hard to come by anyway these days, but put ‘em all in one place and you’ve basically made that pie slice a la mode

The Ebby Halliday Companies has known for years what makes Northeast Dallas special. And that’s why, between Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, they have three offices servicing such highly popular neighborhoods as Lake Highlands, Lakewood, M Streets, Forest Hills, Lochwood, and many others. That means more than 120 agents and groups who specialize in helping others get a taste of the special.

If you’ve not been one of the thousands and thousands scrolling, scrolling, scrolling to see what the fuss is all about, allow us to summarize. There’s fantastic variety available for all kinds of price points and tastes. Here are just a few, two of which are open this weekend.

537 Northlake Drive

4 Bedrooms | 4.1 Baths | 3,555 Sq. Ft.

$1.6 million

Skylar Champion of Dave Perry-Miller’s Lakewood office, mainly serves clients all around the lake, but really anywhere in Dallas she is needed. The repeat Top Producer is a member of the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce and has co-chaired the Lakewood Home Tour which contributes thousands of dollars each year to Lakewood Elementary School, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School. And through those connections built, she has developed a loyal following.

The owners of the elevated 537 Northlake Drive, with partial views of White Rock Lake from the spacious back balcony, are among those loyal followers. Their newly listed three-story home, built in 2018, puts a modern twist on transitional design. On the main floor is a spacious living and dining room with built-in bookshelves and gas fireplace, the kitchen featuring quartz countertops, stainless-steel appliances, and a connected pantry, plus a powder bath and the primary suite with large custom closet and spa-like ensuite bath. But that balcony – man, that balcony! – you’ll practically get your money’s worth from enjoying that space alone.

9722 Shoreview Road
5 Bedrooms | 3.1 Baths | 3,645 Sq. Ft.

$1.575 million

Amy Timmerman of DPMRE’s top-producing The B*A*R Group (and formerly of LH-leading brokerage Local Resident Realty) has this newly listed option adjacent to Flagpole Hill. The White Rock Valley southern-style home with spacious front porch was technically built in 1959. But it’s clearly had a stunning transformation along the way. With beautiful millwork, designer finishes, and high-quality craftsmanship, the attention to detail is evident throughout. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with high-end appliances, custom cabinetry, and a large island. And the primary suite on the first floor features ample space, a luxurious bathroom with dual vanities and a separate tub/shower, plus a walk-in closet.

Timmerman and her teammates Beth Arnold and Robin Moss Norcross who office in DPM’s Lake Highlands office, are deeply invested in LH so it’s not uncommon to see their name involved with community sponsorships. Says Timmerman, ”We’re all living, working and raising or have raised families here, so we want to support the schools, nonprofits and businesses that support us personally and professionally. This part of Dallas really feels small town-ish and that’s its secret sauce. And while we selfishly wish it would stay a secret, it’s comforting and validating that the rest of the country now knows about us.”

His newly listed 2016 home in Merriman Park is essentially perfection: open floor plan, high ceilings, corner lot, great location. If you have kids, you are two blocks from Lake Highlands High School and your main entertainment for the summer – the Lake Highlands North Aquatic Center with splash pad. The primary bedroom is amazing with a separate sitting area and a bathroom with two vanities, a garden bathtub, and a separate shower. A large game room upstairs is great for relaxing and entertaining when those kids aren’t up the street at school or swimming.
