Check Out These 3 Denton Dwellings of Diverse Nature

Share News:

As an alumnus of the great University of North Texas, I have developed a deep appreciation for the eclectic architecture in Denton. This city, like its populous, is diverse with an array of aesthetics. The east side of the city offers so much open space and beautiful ranch houses. However, the closer you get to campus, you will find some of the most remarkable Victorians this side of San Francisco.

For this week’s Suburb Sunday, I’m going to take you through this historic town and highlight three homes that are sure to pique your interest.

A Victorian with a Front Porch View

920 W Hickory Street

  • 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms
  • 3,291 Square Feet
  • $650,000

You can’t talk about Denton architecture without covering some of the historic homes in the area. The first home I’m excited to showcase is an incredible Victorian off historic Hickory Street. Obviously, this home has knockout curb appeal, but the inside is just as amazing.

“The front porch is just perfect,” said listing agent Connie Durnal. “It’s the best place to simply sit and watch the world go by. Then, inside, the home has been incredibly well-kept. It still features its original hardwood floors, which have been sanded and restained. There is a lot of original glass throughout many of the windows. Even some of the door knobs and chandeliers are originals.”

Since the home was built 100 years ago, you can rest assured that the original craftsmanship is of a quality that will outlast even the next owners.

“I respect the craftsmanship. I just love the house,” said Connie. “Also, it’s really spacious and flexible. The backyard is huge. Location is incredible and within walking distance to so many excellent neighborhood features.”

A Remarkable Denton Home Rich in Amenities

3700 Ranchman Blvd.

  • 4 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms
  • 3,079 Square Feet
  • $499,999

The home at 3700 Ranchman Blvd. is certainly more than meets the eye. This says a lot because at 3,079 square feet, there is an awful lot to actually meet the eye.

“The home is built on an oversized lot with just one neighbor,” said listing agent John Mays. “There is so much room to play and I really love the layout and how it features a primary on the ground floor with other rooms upstairs.

Perhaps the best thing about this home though is its amenities.

“The HOA here is incredible. It features an amazing community center with a swimming pool, basketball courts, playground, and walking trails. The last owner said his favorite thing to do was walk to the secluded pond in the evening and watch breathtaking sunsets over the water.”

This home also comes with an assumable FHA loan at 4.125% on just about $254,000. Therefore, it would make a great investment project or the perfect purchase for families looking for a great deal.

An Updated Beauty with a Big Footprint

3014 Santa Monica Drive

  • 5 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms
  • 3,173 Square Feet
  • $729,900

Our final house features everything you’d want in a Denton home: quality craftsmanship, tons of space, and an updated interior.

“It’s a great family home,” said listing agent Lee B. Holzman. “The primary bedroom is downstairs where the parents can have their privacy. All the other bedrooms are super spacious so the kids don’t get cabin fever. Then, there’s an entire acre of activities just outside the door.”

A lot of thought went into making this a great family home. There are two utility rooms, one on each floor so doing chores is a breeze.

This one features some great location features as well.

“It’s on a secluded street but just a block from one of the largest parks in Denton,” said Lee. “It’s just an excellent home in a beautiful area.”
