Realtor Roxy Diamond learned from watching her father that the industries of law and real estate can — like peanut butter and chocolate — be quite satisfying together.

Growing up in South Florida, her father was a real estate attorney. Likewise, her brother entered that field, and she grew up around commercial real estate. She herself later became an attorney, also possessing a Florida real estate license.

“I’ve had my real estate license in Florida since 2005, but majored in accounting at the University of Miami and went on to earn my Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University School of Law,” Diamond explained.

After graduating, she worked as a licensed attorney in Florida representing municipalities, property owners and developers on land use, zoning, and government lobbying matters. Moving to Dallas in 2011 after getting married, she became a licensed Texas attorney and worked for the City of Dallas as an assistant city attorney handling real estate matters related to the Trinity River Project.

“When I applied for the job, I was fresh to Dallas and I asked the city attorney if it was a temporary job. He replied, ‘The Trinity River Project is a forever project — it was here before you and will be here long after you’ve retired,'” she recalled.

Through it all, her love for real estate continued to grow and her curiosity for what she might be able to sell did as well. Then, one day, she made the leap.

“I’ve always had a love for anything real estate related and it was only a matter of time for me to pursue the sales side. Julie Boren at Dave Perry-Miller sold us our house on Janmar Court in 2014 and she told me when I was ready to make the jump to give her a call,” Diamond recalled. “I was officially ready when I realized that I wasn’t leaving law behind, but actually utilizing my background and experience to further benefit my clients.

“I’ve been working as an active Texas Realtor for two years and it has been an amazing experience.”

She came to Dallas in 2011 after meeting her husband Brett, who grew up in Dallas, via a mutual friend on Facebook. They got married a year after their first date.

Brett has been a financial advisor for over 20 years in the wealth management industry. They have four children, Ava, 7; David, 6; Leah, 4; and Ella, 2.

“I’m blessed to have such a supportive and loving — and handsome — husband,” she said. “I am blessed to have supportive family, friends, and clients who cheer me on.”

When she’s not selling real estate, Roxy can often be found in the kitchen.

“I love baking — from homemade Challah bread to Pavlova!” she exclaimed.

Like many in her industry, she is puzzled as to why some folks try the do-it-yourself method that has become more prevalent in real estate.

“For most people, their home is the most expensive asset they own, making sure an experienced professional is involved in the sale or purchase of such seems like the obvious and safe choice,” she said. “Each transaction is unique. I feel like I bring my legal background — and sometimes my accounting too — to the table for my clients. At the end of the day, we’re using TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) forms that have legal implications for the parties involved.”

She finds the greatest reward in her industry is “lining things up for clients at the right time.”

“To do that, it’s important for me to get a deep understanding of their wants and wishes lists — whether on the seller or buyer side. When it’s right, it’s right,” she said. “I’ve had several transactions close where the client bought the first and only house I showed them. Two of those were homes that were off-market.”

Then she added with a smile, “I attribute that to a combination of my ‘matchmaking skills’ and to those times where things were just meant to be.”
