Reader Warning: This House is The Butt of Bathroom Humor

There are times when the stars and planets align and everything just falls into place. It does not happen often but when it does you have to appreciate the moment. A good example of this is a funny joke.

Case in point is the home featured in this week’s column. As I was flipping through the pictures a joke came to me and I knew I had to write about this house.

The fact that this house is located in Las Vegas just adds to the humor. If only what happens in Vegas would actually stay in Vegas and please, no pictures.

This incredibly busy house is located at 5037 Via De Palma Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada. It has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and is slightly over 1,800 square feet. The owners are asking $299K.

I am going to do you a solid and confirm what your squinting eyes are telling you. Yes, those are three different colored bricks on that house, and no, that is not the joke

All I can think about with a kitchen like this is how my knees would be perpetually bruised and scraped with all of the exposed brick. Then there is the mismatched flooring and what is that thing above the counter and stove? It does not look like lighting. I just do not know.

At least they were consistent in their inconsistency from the bricks on the front of the house to the flooring throughout the house.

If only Capt. Benson was exaggerating. This house could easily qualify to be investigated by the special victim’s unit to find out who and why it was abused in this manner. This is not the joke either.

Now one cannot help but wonder just what in the Wild World of Sports happened to the floors but the more pressing question is what is going on with that paint job?

If you are wondering what technique they used for the walls, I have your answer.

Okay, you have to admit that was pretty funny but just wait, I am building to my joke. Let us go to the bathroom.

I know what you are thinking: “Why?” Look at it this way, you can do a load while you drop a load and if you are worried that you may not make it in time, then …

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! That is the joke! That came to me and has had me laughing for days. That one picture is the reason I have dragged you through this godforsaken house.

I have a feeling I know what you are thinking now: “What the heck Mimi! The stars aligned for a bathroom joke?’

Yes, yes they did and I am pretty darn proud of that joke. I am giggling right now.  I find bathroom jokes hysterical but I have also been told my sense of humor resembles that of a 9-year-old child. So there you go.

Come on, join me in my laughter.

That thing above the stove and counter looks to be a range hood for what I guess was an indoor grill. They’ve removed the grill, created counter space next to the stove, but left the vent hood in place. How do I know this? Because in my own 1970’s-built home there was an indoor grill with big honkin’ vent hood (including lights) above it. I removed the grill, removed the vent hood, and created a prep area with custom butcher block cutting board in place of the old grill. The ceiling patch was a doozy!

Thank you for the information. That is really helpful. I thought it looked like a vent hood of some sort but could not figure out what they were trying to vent. I’m sure your kitchen looks great because you actually did what needed to be done for it to look nice. Thanks for the read and answering the question. You win the giant cookie for this week. ha ha Have a great day and thanks for the read.

Ooh la la, this rancher breathes Vegas, baby! I love the accurate “View of Palm Drive” address: Realtor pictures 33-36 feature the singular referenced palm tree in this minimally landscaped desert neighborhood. The only upgrade needed is a low hanging, sheitl (wig) snatching pot rack suspended from the range hood!

Wow, that is a heckuva description of that house Rabbi. I would love to see a “low hanging, sheitl snatching pot rack” in action. Good to hear from you. Hope you have a good day.
