A Coppell Custom Home on Five Majestic Acres

Share News:

Land has become the buzzword lately. People want the privacy and flexibility that a home on a sizable lot provides. Today, we have a perfect example in this Coppell custom home that sits on five acres with a stocked pond. And from what I know, you can have a horse — or two or three!

If you have not been to Coppell lately, or ever, you are in for a treat. You have to love a city with a hedgehog for a mascot. It may seem odd, but it gets attention, and that was the goal.

The city website offers an explanation:

Every time our employees see a hedgehog replica, whether on a desk or as “Hedgehog Award” on a wall, it serves as a reminder to our one goal. It is the one thing we always want to do well: Building Community through Public Service.

Trust me, when I get excited reading a city website, they are doing something very well. Especially impressive are the city’s Three Anchors:

  1. Will my action make it better than how I found it?
  2. Is there something more I can do to serve our customers
  3. Am I serving with a servant’s heart?

There are sensible regulations, including a fair short-term rental policy and a commitment to sustainability. The Coppell Community Garden has an Adopt-a-Plot scheme whereby citizens work the garden to donate the weekly harvest to Metrocrest Services food pantry. Over 30,000 pounds of food were donated in 2021 and over 300,000 since it began in 1998.

The expansive kitchen has recently been remodeled and overlooks the acreage.

A Social Community

Three excellent public school systems serve Coppell, and if you’re looking for fun, there are 17 parks across 544 acres of parkland, a 36-page activity catalog, and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a city that parties as much as Coppell. I’m serious. If you read the website, you’ll call the movers and head straight to this 4,141-square-foot Coppell custom home.

“I’ve sold more property to people wanting acreage this year,” RE/MAX DFW Associates listing agent Laura Barnett said. “They want to get away, but not so far away that they cannot enjoy amenities, so to have a great house like this with a stocked pond is like having an in-town ranch.

The second-floor balcony is a perfect spot to watch the fireworks.

This six-bedroom, six-bathroom custom home has a huge game room with closets that could flex to be a seventh bedroom. The first-floor principal suite has a large sitting area and opens to that five-acre view that is simply majestic.

One of the many perks of this property is the zoning. Even with Coppell’s fair and sensible short-term rental regulations, this property is zoned SF12 (Single Family, 12,000-square-foot lot) so it can be subdivided, or you can build another home as a guest house or short-term rental.

“You can have your own compound back there,” Barnett said.

Do you want more perks?

The property has a grandfathered water well, and the home was built with a massive driveway and hookups to accommodate RV parking. The icing on the cake is a brilliant view of the Fourth of July fireworks.

Niche is a website that ranks thousands of places to live in America based on statistics from expert insights and the U.S. Census. It ranked Coppell the third-best suburb out of 415 in Texas and the fourth out of 1,053 places to raise a family in Texas. If they ranked houses, this would be number one!

Barnett has 844 Deforest Road listed for $1.95 million.
