This Week’s Open Houses Feature Historic Charm, Lakefront Luxury, And a Poolside Palace

School’s out for summer and it’s time to take the plunge and find the dream home.

Our picks this week — DFW-area homes with open houses on June 11 and 12 — will lead you to a charming historic Dallas beauty near the city’s arts district, a spacious retreat on Lake Lavon, and a two-acre lot with a newly-installed pool.

Historic Hot Spot

This 1925 Greek revival home is an L-shaped one-story in the heart of Uptown’s State Thomas Landmark Historic District

The home at 2614 Hibernia St., Dallas, is a $1.85 million abode on a 7,000-square-foot lot. The three-bedroom, three-and-one-half bathroom home has ample space, updated features, and a cool backyard party patio – but the real selling point is the location.

The new owner wil be right in the heart of uptown, steps away from McKinney Avenue restaurants, nightlife, shops, and Whole Foods Uptown. A short drive will take the family to the downtown arts district, American Airlines Center, parks, hotels, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Since the site is zoned for residential or commercial, it could function as a home, short-term rental, or small business. An upstairs loft or guest quarters sits above the two-car garage.

Realtor Aaron Gumm with Real Broker LLC is hosting an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

Lake Life At Its Finest

Over in Collin County, the home at 1201 Hicks Trail, Lucas, is what dreams and country songs are made of.

The four-bedroom was custom built in 2014 and sits on a lush half-acre lot bordering the green belt and a short walk to the boat ramp at Lavon Lake

It’s a super cool, modern house, and yet somehow, you can picture someone playing guitar on the porch and the kids collecting bugs down by the lake.

Listed at $1.45 million, this house oozes a cool factor with hardwood flooring, a split three-car garage, full security system, and upgraded finish-outs.

The kitchen features a 9-foot island with Brazilian granite countertops, double oven, sub-zero refrigerator and freezer, and a walk-in pantry.

About 550 square feet of unfinished space is upstairs waiting to be completed.

An outdoor kitchen is perfect for entertaining this summer next to the landscaped and irrigated backyard. A large master suite with double vanities and underlit onyx counter tops, a huge his-and-hers walk-in shower, a standalone soaking tub, and a large walk-in closet will have the new owners chanting, “happy wife, happy life.”

Got kids? This home is in the highly sought-after Lovejoy school district

Realtor Joe Stephens with Turn Two Realty is hosting an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

Find Your Thrill In Cedar Hill

Another option for those who need to be close to the water during this hot Dallas summer is the custom home at 2764 South Lakeview Drive, Cedar Hill.

The body of water in this case is a recently added backyard Unite pool.

The $959,000 house sits on a 2-acre lot in the prestigious Lake Ridge Estates of Cedar Hill. Mature trees surround the dwelling, built in 2006.

With five bedrooms, four-and-one-half bathrooms, a three-car garage, and a golf cart garage, there’s plenty of space for a home office or to have guests for long weekends.

Granite, travertine, and wood floors add elegance to the home, which also features a wine nook and stunning, recently-added spiral staircase.

A gourmet kitchen with a wrap-around breakfast bar is likely where the guests will congregate; the walk-in closets and garden tub in the spacious master bedroom provide a retreat from the hustle and bustle. A separate study, tiered media room with theater seating, and game room with built-in bar up the ante for entertaining.

Realtor Carolyn Jenkins with Ebby Halliday is hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12.
