George Jetson’s Boyhood Home Foretells The Future (And We’re Here For it)

Share News:

Okay everybody, mark Aug. 22, 2022, on your calendar. The future is knocking and trust me, you want to answer that door. What is the significance behind that date you ask? That is the day George Jetson is born.

Yes, that George Jetson.

We know that when George Jetson was 40, there were flying space cars, Rosey the Robot, and the three-day workweek. All that combined makes for one sexy future.

While I am always hopeful that magical woodland creatures who clean and cook actually exist, I know that at least I have Rosey to look forward to in the future. Although I will not make Rosey wear the little French maid outfit. I am not a misogynist, for Pete’s sake. Bring down the patriarchy!

I digress.

Now, when The Jetsons aired we had a window to the future. What we were not privy to was George’s upbringing. Well, it just so happens that what has to be his childhood home is for sale and this week’s feature. Much like the future, it is sexy.

This three-bedroom, one-bath home is located at 3201 Peachtree Street, Sarasota, Florida. The owners are asking $899K for this nearly 1,300-square-foot home that sits on a third of an acre.

I am going to be completely honest — I love this house. Typically, round homes do not seem to work or they are clunky, but this one is a masterpiece. It is no wonder that the buildings in 2062 are round. This home is the model they followed. Let us take a look at where George grew up.

I love everything about this entry. From the kidney-shaped table to the wallpaper behind the television. It is sensational. George grew up in a super cool home.

You can picture Rosey cooking up something delicious in this kitchen.

I would be remiss if I did not say that the décor was a strong hint that young George Jetson would be living in outer space by the time he was 40.

A closer look at the wallpaper and you see galaxies.

You have some sort of Milky Way on the television and stars on the walls. This is a perfect house for teenage George to throw some groovy parties.

The light fixture is another star.

My God, even the chair looks like one of the apartment buildings in The Jetsons.

I simply do not have the words to describe the bathroom.

Get a load of the shower.

Even the carport is the perfect size for George’s spaceship, I mean car.

Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to the future. I plan to have a clean house and some fun with my version of Rosey. All you have to do is superimpose my face on Jane.

Considering the condition it was in when the current owners purchased the property, I applaud their vision. They did an amazing job.

Now, *that* was a fun read! Lol

Sue Tapia, the owner, is a realtor, and we are active in a couple of the same FB groups for mid-century homes, so I have been able to enjoy her “work in progress“ pics, and have ooohhed and aahhed every step of the way! She is also a great cat mama

Thank you for the information. Please tell her that I think she did a spectacular job. Thank you for the read.

This was a Wednesday WTF… in a GREAT way! One of the best MCMs I’ve ever seen, at any price point. I bet many of our MCM-expert colleagues would agree.

I couldn’t agree more. When I first saw it I knew I had to write about this home. Thank you for the read.
