It’s Ash Wednesday, And This NOLA Home’s Color Cures Winter Blahs

The worst part of winter is the lack of color. The clouds, the haze, and simply lack of color from trees and plants just sucks the zippity-do-da out of my day.

That is why Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday are a shot of adrenalin. Color galore. Too bad Wednesday WTF is just one day late. Let’s just put off Ash Wednesday for a minute so we can laissez les bon temps rouler over here.

We can agree that New Orleans is the mecca of Mardi Gras celebrations. It is timely that the home of artist Ashley Longshore went on the market two weeks ago. Her home is located in New Orleans and it is a high dose of B12 for the winter blahs.  For those who do not know her, Longshore is known for her work in pop culture and Hollywood glamour. The New York Post dubbed her the “modern Andy Warhol.”

That all translates to lots of vibrant colors with a dab of New Orleans weirdness. Just one glimpse of this house and there is no doubt that it has been filled with beads, booze, and boobs. Not necessarily in that order but you know what I mean. This is not the kind of house where one simply celebrates Fat Tuesday. In this house, you are Fat Tuesday.

Longshore’s home is located at 1535 Soniat St, New Orleans, Louisiana. The asking price for this four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom house is $2.28 million. At a little more than 5,200 square feet, the home is a showcase of Longshore’s art.

The entry is your first shot of adrenalin. Bam!

While the nun on the wall is triggering, the hot pink wall is just wonderful.

The “save Tom Cruise” cross is just funny. It is us who need saving from Tom Cruise at times.  The colors are invigorating and do wonders to shake off these drab days.

The kitchen and dining rooms are just as good.

The lighting makes this one of the coolest kitchens I have ever seen. If you are quiet, you can hear the smooth jazz playing lightly in the background.

“Ass in seats” takes on a whole new meaning in this dining room. You cannot help but let out a laugh. If that is too much for you though, there is another dining area.

Bananas on the ceiling. Enough said. (Well, besides the four-letter word on the patio wall.)

Hand to God, I did not realize this was the bathroom the first time I saw this room. I was focused on the artwork and the mirror.

This is a bedroom worthy of its New Orleans address.

If I could put this door in my house, I would do it in a heartbeat. This is one of the greatest doors I have ever seen.

Of all the rooms, this is my favorite. It is loud and fun and you can just feel the energy from all the parties that were held in this house.

If you enjoy Mardi Gras or New Orleans then there is no way you do not have an appreciation for how this house flows with all the decor and colors. If this home were a person, it would be like the one below.
