Hop to This Allen Home That’s Popular on Zillow

This week’s Inwood Home of the Week, sponsored by Inwood National Bank, takes us to Allen — somewhere we don’t visit all that often here on CandysDirt.com.

I know of Collin County cities, Plano gets a lot of the attention for its corporate headquarter corridor and Celina mades headlines for its jaw-dropping population growth, but Allen isn’t the sleepy bedroom community it once was. However, if you are looking to buy a few bedrooms in this community, Allen’s excellent school district and newer home builds at reasonable prices make it a great city to live. In fact, 52 percent of homes in Allen were built in 2000 or later.

That’s probably why this listing from Jenny Capritta of RE/MAX DFW Associates is a popular one. In 10 hours since going on the market, it’s been viewed over 1,000 times and saved more than 100 times. It’ll be the hot ticket in town when Capritta hosts an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19.

I mentioned that the majority of Allen homes were built in the last 20 years. But this three-bedroom, 1,430-square-foot home was built in 1983. Why is that significant? Character!

Eighties homes were, in my opinion, the last decade of unique and varied design among its homes. Maybe it’s because there are less of them to survive tear downs, but you don’t typically find many multiples of the same 80s home. I love how this home has its own interesting architectural feature — a brick fireplace on the diagonal. Plus, older homes like this typically have larger rooms and pretty solid construction — two big wins if you’re looking to update and make it your own.

From the large living space, peek into the dining area with sliding glass doors that overlook the fabulous backyard. The renovated kitchen has new cabinets, solid surface countertops, a breakfast bar, and pantry.

Relax after a hectic day in the owner’s retreat with new en-suite bath. Two bedrooms share a remodeled hall bath. A full sprinkler system offers easy maintenance for the lush lawn. Skip the carpool line with Allen ISD’s Reed elementary just around the corner.

Jenny Capritta of RE/MAX DFW Associates has listed 1318 Clearview in Allen for $319,500.

What a great home, at a reasonable price, too. Love that backyard.
