This Denton Cottage Has All The Updates

What a cute cutie up in Denton. If you’re looking for a great spot in one of North Texas’ hottest suburbs, this one is just the ticket.

This cottage is updated in every way and within biking distance from downtown Denton, the University of North Texas, and Texas Women’s University campuses.

It’s gorgeous inside. Impeccable taste all around. The open kitchen has a generous island with butcher block countertops and uses the space wonderfully. As in, look at all those cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling! And the ones around the refrigerator double as a pantry and give it that bougie built-in fridge look. LOVELY. The cabinets have clean lines and the simplest pulls giving the kitchen a modern look. OR DOES IT? What if you want to go traditional or transitional or farmhouse chic? Knock yourself out, these cabinets can do it all.

Ebby Halliday’s Laura Mauelshagen called it a painstaking remodel, but boy, oh boy was it worth it. Mauelshagen said this is the second home she’s sold for this couple and they’re always showstoppers. I said clearly they know what they’re doing and asked who the designer was. Mauelshagen said neither, they both just have great taste. Guess what one seller is though? A children’s author. INCREDIBLE.

Oh, and on that painstaking part, Mauelshagen wasn’t kidding, she said they replaced most of the drywall (including the ceilings) and encapsulated the crawlspace. Not an inexpensive thing to do either, but it keeps it better insulated (freak winter storms) and keeps the air cleaner in the home (ahhhh).

In addition to an amazing remodel with the most perfect light fixtures and flawlessly refinished hardwood floors, this house is also in a wonderful neighborhood. Super cute, walkable, and friendly.

As for the super close Denton Square, Mauelshagen said some of her favorites are Beth Marie’s Ice Cream, Atomic Candy, and Jupiter House Coffee. She said Denton runs on local businesses and if the charm of this house plus a children’s author for a seller doesn’t get you, supporting local businesses should.

Mauelshagen has 912 Westway Drive listed for $389,000.
