Letter From The Editor: In 2021, We Relished Sharing Your News. In 2022, We’ll Keep it Up.

Share News:

This past year was full of milestones for CandysDirt.com. We won awards, broke industry news, and helped our advertisers gain market share like never before — and we had great fun while doing it! Truly, 2021 was the year that our strategy shined while sharing all the great stories that our readers and sources sent our way.

This was also the year that we added more new voices, covered more new developments, shared more House Porn and Wednesday WTFs, and chased down more breaking news. This past year had us solidly cementing the CandysDirt.com brand as a niche news website — a blog no more!

This change has enabled us to dig deep and bring Dallas-Fort Worth real estate news to those who are, like us, obsessed with it. Our readers are always excited to tell us that they heard it on CandysDirt.com first, and we always love hearing that!

We had so many moments on our highlight reel, it’s worth a trip down memory lane.

When sources tipped us off that several Dallas real estate professionals were found at the Jan. 6 riots, we were one of the first news organizations to relay the story. Our reporter Joshua Baethge was relentless in securing exclusive quotes.

When the February winter storm wreaked havoc on our region, we fired up our generators and used what signal we had to keep our readers informed. Our own Eric Prokesh detailed how his neighborhood came together to help one another amidst the chaos and tragedy. We had experts weigh in on how to deal with the aftermath, and what to do to stave off disaster should this happen again.

And when the Mosaic building caught fire this past summer, we were the first to report the news. We kept hot on the tail of stories pouring out of the downtown apartment high-rise, holding the building’s ownership accountable.

Of course, we have to celebrate a huge win for us this year. Besides growing and engaging more with our audience, we were recognized by Preservation Dallas with a very special recognition. We won the Preservation Education Award for our series of Historic Preservation columns that highlight our region’s built history one structure at a time. I could not be more proud of senior columnist Karen Eubank and all the research she puts into this weekly column.

In 2021, we published news and features seven days a week, flexing our skills as journalists, editors, and real estate addicts. In 2022, we’re going to bring you even more!

In 2021, I published my 3,000th post on CandysDirt.com — an incredible milestone!

In 2022, I’ll have another milestone — celebrating 10 years as Executive Editor for our brand. How we’ve grown since then!

Thank you to everyone who pitched a story, shared their quotes, and partnered with us as an advertiser in 2021. We’re excited to up the ante in 2022, and we can’t wait to take you along for the ride.

Cheers,

Joanna England
