WINTER IS COMING, Y’ALL!

As we learned last year, that could mean some serious weather changes. Now is the perfect time to make sure your home is set up for success.

Here are a few tips:

1. Clear Debris From Roof And Rain Gutters

Leaves left to decompose on the roof can stain it and attract vermin. And even if the wind does blow it off for you, your rain gutters are catching a lot of that debris.

Clogged rain gutters can pull away from the house, cause flooding at the foundation, rotting fascia boards, they develop mold and other growths, and all sorts of messy problems.

2. Check For Water Leaks

A freeze is a terrible time to find out you have a hidden water leak. You can check your water meter to detect a possible leak. If you see something suspicious, call a plumber.

3. Check Your Plumbing Lines

If your drain lines look like Super Mario Bros designed them, you should have a licensed plumber take a look. Hint: they should NOT be running against gravity, nor should they have used accordion-style pipes which cause debris to get stuck and clog the lines.

4. Have Your HVAC Serviced

The extreme temperature changes and switching back and forth from AC to heat that we experience in North Texas causes humidity and moisture build-up, which means mold. If your vents look like this, your lungs probably do too.

You can have a Season Home Health Check-Up with a licensed home inspector to help you find all the ways (big and small) to keep your home healthy this winter.
