Fire Up Your Ovens, Baking Season is Here!

Well my people, we are past the Thanksgiving holiday and we are now in the full swing of one of the best times of the year: baking season.

From roasts and casseroles to cakes, cookies, pies, and other sweet treats, baking season is the most magical time of the year in my kitchen. Since we live in a 1,100-square-foot cottage, I rarely turn my oven on during the summer months because it heats up the house, which causes the air conditioner to work harder, and so on and so forth.

The smell of the deliciousness wafting from my home during the baking season would be enough to lure Hansel and Gretel to my front door. You remember Hansel and Gretel. They are the two little kids whose father took them deep into the woods and ditched them there.

They found their way to a house made of gingerbread and gumdrops and started to eat said house. The homeowner was some sicko who caged Hansel and Gretel with the intent of fattening them up so she could bake and eat them.

That is taking baking season too far.

All of this prelude brings me to the home featured this week.

What if Hansel and Gretel were ditched in the woods where the Blair Witch from The Blair Witch Project had her cabin? That incredible crossover would be this week’s featured house.

The best part of this home is that it sits on a little more than five acres and it is priced at $83,200. The three-bedroom, two-bath house located at 1779 S Wake Rd, New Berlin, Illinois has more than 2,000 square feet.

Believe me when I tell you, those are the highlights.

There is no way, and I mean no way, that kids were not baked in this kitchen. Talk about getting the heebie-jeebies.

The only positive thing I can say about this kitchen is that the magnets are neatly organized on the refrigerator.

The listing agent, to his credit, could not be more honest in his description of this property.

“From top to bottom, it needs everything.”

“Water is currently in the walkout basement along with mold, so it is not accessible to view. Yes, you’re correct, it is like having a built-in pool that opens to a pond (that should not be there).”

If Hansel and Gretel happened along this house, they would be goners for sure. Shoot, if the Blair Witch came by this cabin, she would run for the hills.

The smells wafting from this home during baking season would not be one of deliciousness. It would be more along the line of a dumpster-style aroma.
