Two Sisters Made This California Contemporary in Fort Worth Extra Cool

I don’t typically head out to Fort Worth for my Tuesday column, but for this home, I kind of had to.

It’s a California cool contemporary set on a Greenbelt that also backs to the Lost Creek Golf Course and Coldwell Banker Apex’s Donna Galvan told us all about it.

It was built in 1983 by two sisters as their primary residence. They literally created their dream home because they never planned on leaving and they never did. It’s a single-owner home. One that was extremely well-constructed, especially for the time, Galvan added.

Both sisters worked for the same commercial contractor and he basically built the house. It’s commercial-grade with a marble fireplace and tiled throughout. It’s low maintenance because that’s what they were looking for.

Galvan called them “Glamour Girls.” The house was recently painted, but when the sisters were living there the color scheme was the muted mauve that was so big in the 1980s, with a complementary purple.

Over the years, the sisters didn’t update much because they loved it the way it was. You can see their touches all over the house. There is a lot of luxury — chandeliers, a gold swan faucet that remains in pristine condition, a dusty rose bathtub and stand-up shower.

Galvan joked that they must not have wanted company because there are only two primary suites in the house. Each has its own spacious, spa-like bathroom. Of course, they created huge walk-in closets, too.

The front of the house only has the two glass-block “windows,” but along the back of the house, it’s basically one big window overlooking the greenbelt. Galvan said the sisters loved the location as much as they loved the house.

It’s set inside a cul-de-sac, but it’s all the greenery out back they loved the most. Throughout their time at 11600 Wind Creek Court, they had just about every imaginable wildlife stop by and they were avid bird watchers. Galvan said they had every birdhouse you could think of out there.

It’s a really special home with a special story and it’s currently listed for $395,000.
