Your Last-Minute Thanksgiving Getaways Await

There are always abrupt changes to holiday plans, and you might be at your breaking point trying to accommodate everyone. It may just be time to say adios and head south with minimal relatives in tow. I’ve found a few great last-minute Thanksgiving getaways that will help you keep your sanity. The trick is to order your turkey dinner and pick it up on the way south!

I’ve stayed in dozens of Airbnb properties worldwide, so I always look for interesting, attractive, and comfortable properties that basically scream, RELAX! I ran a search for November 23-28 for two adults and two children on Thursday so hopefully, these Thanksgiving getaways will still be available when you read this!

Solon Estate-A Historic Stone House  

Thanksgiving getaways don’t get much more historic than this! Solon House in Waxahachie. It was built by John Solon, the father of masonry in Texas, in 1894. Solon brought the concept of stone foundations to Ellis county. It’s a lovely historic home with three bedrooms on 1.5 acres with an Irish-inspired garden view from the front porch. An adjacent cottage can be rented if you did drag along more relatives than you’d initially planned on. Everyone can relax under the covered gazebo or by the open fire pit.

The Lykke House 

This Thanksgiving getaway is a brand new listing within walking distance of Main Street in Fredricksburg, which is why it has not been booked yet. It has to be one of the most delightful homes I’ve seen in a very long time.

Lykke is the Danish word for happiness, and our cozy cottage is full of it! The Danes are notoriously classified as the happiest people on the planet, and part of that title comes from having a happy home. Although Fredericksburg is a German heritage town, we wanted to bring some lessons down from Germany’s neighbor to the north. Cue: The Lykke House. It’s full of brightness, laughter-generating activities, and as much joy as we could muster. We hope it brings the same to you and yours.
