After Well-Documented Trip to Capitol For Rally-Turned-Riot, Jenna Ryan Pleads Guilty

Share News:

Local Realtor Jenna Ryan pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of parading, picketing, or demonstrating in the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington D.C. She now faces up to six months in prison as well as fine not to exceed $5,000.

The charge Ryan ended up pleading guilty to is a far cry from the ones that she originally faced.

On Jan. 15, Ryan was charged with two federal counts of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted government building without lawful authority and disorderly conduct. She was later charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct in a capital building as well as parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capital building.

Ryan first gained notoriety for her proud social media posts boasting of her activities during the riots that left five people dead.  Those posts played a major role in the prosecution’s case.

In the official Statement of Offense released by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Ryan traveled from Denton to D.C. the previous day with fellow North Texas Realtor Jason Hyland and Katherine Schwab. Around 1:41 p.m. on January 6, Ryan posted a Facebook video on which she said she would “go down and storm the Capital [sic].” Shortly after that, she posted another video of herself walking toward the Capitol building.

At approximately 3:21 p.m., Ryan, Hyland, and Schwab were seen on surveillance footage entering the Capitol building through the rotunda door.  She subsequently took more videos and photos from inside the Capitol and was observed chanting “fight for Trump.”

Later that evening around 6:42 p.m. she posted on Twitter, “We just stormed the Capital [sic].  It was one of the best days of my life.”

Ryan signed the document on July 24, acknowledging that all of the points were true.

Ryan’s Twitter profile shows that she is working under the banner of a company called First Place Real Estate. According to its website, she is now going by the name Jennifer Rodgers, who is the only person listed on the “meet the team” section.

While she declined to answer any direct questions, Ryan issued a lengthy statement via her attorney claiming that she is a “consummate professional” who has been praised by those who have done business with her. It says that she has been the target of “much professional jealousy from those who seek to compete with her.”

The statement goes on to allege that in recent months, “various entities and individuals have repeatedly and systematically engaged in discrimination against, and defamation of Ms. Ryan and her businesses interest.”  It adds that she is weighing her legal options against all those who have engaged in “defamation against her personally and professionally.”

Ryan is set to be sentenced on Nov. 4.

Wow. I’m still amazed at this person.

Sad to have the Real Estate profession degraded by such irresponsible behavior.
She doesn’t sound at all contrite – maybe a little jail time is just what she needs.

One major correction. The riot didn’t kill 5 people. The only person that was killed was the female unarmed veteran shot by a capital guard who still remains anonymous. Any other deaths were all medically predictable due to pre-existing conditions. What is the reason for posting this in Candy’s Dirt?

    • Pam McKim on August 24, 2021 at 1:24 pm

She should have complied. She was told to stop and the officer was armed. She ignored him because she was a terrorist and that’s what happens to terrorists domestic or otherwise

    • Joanna England on August 24, 2021 at 1:56 pm

The story says that the riots “left five people dead.” It does not say that the riot killed five people, but that five people are now dead due to what happened on Jan. 6. Hard to argue otherwise.

Also, Jenna Ryan is a Realtor and resides in our coverage area.

      • Joe Hill on August 24, 2021 at 4:27 pm

I think ” left 5 people dead” implies their deaths were due to the “riot” It was made clear that those 4 deaths, including the guard who was originally & wrongly reported to have been hit on the head with a fire extinguisher) all had pre-existing conditions that could have killed them at any moment. I was referring to Ashli Babbitt who, I understand, made no aggressive moves to cause the guard to shoot and also understand Ashli shouldn’t have been there at all. Since Jenna Ryan plead only to a misdemeanor, her real estate license should not be suspended or revoked and I can only think of one reason why Candy’s dirt published this.

        • Diana Kay on August 24, 2021 at 5:50 pm

Except, Ashli WAS there. And so was “Jenna/Jennifer” Actions have consequences, Joe. Also, Ms. England stated the reason for the posting. Your reason for taking issue with the posting says more about you than it does Candy’s Dirt. IMHO.

Umm she’s a Realtor. We publish real estate news.

      • Jay Narey on August 25, 2021 at 11:39 am

Well said Karen. This is a major story that involves a person in the Real Estate industry in our area. Maintaining the integrity and reputation of the Real Estate profession is ALL of our responsibility. At the very least, Ms. Ryan could use a little one on one NAR Code of Ethics training refresher on how to conduct herself responsibly and reflect “positively” on the industry and our profession going forward. It seems to me like there was “willful intent” to violate Articles 10 and 15
of the NAR Code of Ethics based on her actions and statements.

Learn to read moron. The article states the riots left 5 people dead, not killed! I’m betting your pre-existing condition is stupidity. Probably caused by your parents purposely dropping you on your head too often as an infant. You Trumptards really need to spend more time reading, and less time believing in conspiracies!

      • Candy Evans on November 4, 2021 at 5:35 pm

I take offense to name calling those who follow EITHER party. I am NOT happy with the current White House occupant, but you won’t find me calling him a name. I also think that what Jenna, and many others, were trying to do on Jan. 6 was voice concerns over the perceived inequities in our nation that have been brewing for a long time. We cannot ignore these, nor dismiss them as a conspiracy or stupidity. Members of Congress are fat cats sitting pretty with health care benefits and perks not available to most Americans. There is a lot of anger in our nation and it boiled over on jan. 6, much as it did last summer during the George Floyd riots that took place and caused millions in destruction in almost every American city. Where is the outrage over that? Stuff that anger down some more it will be far, far worse. Had people like Jenna not gotten carried away, had others not damaged federal property, carried in flags bearing offensive swastikas and racist slogans, the outcome and messaging would have been much different. I hate that ANYONE lost their life that day. It’s time to discourse like ADULTS and not resort to name calling on any side. Because we are all in this together.

    • Candy Evans on August 25, 2021 at 2:59 pm

The reason? This is news and it involves a Realtor. But you are correct the only death directly because of the riot was the veteran who climbed through a window. The whole ordeal was a mess.

    • Jan on November 1, 2021 at 8:09 pm

Nope, incorrect. No ” preexisting conditions to contribute. They were bludgeoned with metal poles. Where have you been?? You need to check out videos on YouTube.

  4. Your neighbor on August 24, 2021 at 9:21 pm

Cute that Candice would allow something like this to be posted. Unless she wants to start posting an article for each licensee whom receives a misdemeanor of any kind in the coverage area. Likely, with a few of these fictitious claims, Candice may be liable for some loss of revenue in a suit.

    • Joanna England on August 24, 2021 at 10:25 pm

Thanks for your comment. Can you clarify what exactly are these “fictitious claims”?

    • Candy Evans on August 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm

      Hmmmmm.

      • Jenna Ryan on August 25, 2021 at 7:46 pm

        Statement
Ms. Ryan is a consummate professional within the Dallas area real estate market. She has been the subject of praise and recognition as such by those who have actually done business with her, and the target of much professional jealousy from those who seek to compete with her.

In recent months, various entities and individuals have repeatedly and systematically engaged in discrimination against, and defamation of, Ms. Ryan and her business interests. These efforts have – in many cases – been initiated by those who have never done business with, or even met, Ms. Ryan and/or are direct competitors.

Ms. Ryan is taking action against efforts to ruin her professional reputation and deprive her of the ability to earn a living – in the profession that she has excelled in for nearly two decades. She is carefully weighing all available legal recourse against those who have engaged in defamation against her personally and professionally – as well as those who have illegally interfered with, and discriminated against, her professional livelihood.

She plead guilty. How on earth is she still a realtor, much less licensed to sell real estate in Texas?? What do you have to do to lose your license in that state if a deadly overtake of the US Capitol building wasn’t enough?

    • DB on October 30, 2021 at 9:52 pm

She plead guilty to a MISDEMEANOR of parading, picketing or demonstrating. Hardly a reason to lose your real estate license. How many people get a far more serious charge if DUI and are allowed back o the roads?!?! Please get some perspective.

      • David L Dodd on November 7, 2021 at 10:27 am

Sorry she broke the law by trespassing on government property then entered the Capitol building illegally part of a group of insurrectionists then boasted online on what she did. Sorry no empathy for her nor the 600 plus insurrectionists.

Not sure I would consider an agent that had a $37,000 tax lein placed on her for failing to pay taxes, almost had her home foreclosed, and also declared bankruptcy, “a consummate professional”. Just saying.
