Forney made Homes.com’s list of Best Suburbs to Move to in 2021 (Facebook/CityofForney)

When best-places rankings come out, Forney isn’t on many lists. It should be. Drive east on U.S. 80, and you’ll notice the Kaufman County town is busy with residential and commercial development.

Homes.com, a Virginia-based home-selling website, has taken notice.

In Homes.com’s list of The Best Suburbs to Move to in 2021, Forney is ranked second, just behind Westfield, Ind., an Indianapolis suburb. To get an idea of the level of migration from dense urban areas to the suburbs, Homes.com churned the U.S. Census’s list of fastest-growing towns in each state and ranked them against a set of homebuying criteria to come up with its rankings.

Little Elm was ranked seventh and the only other Dallas-Fort Worth suburb on the list. Leander, an Austin suburb, ranked fifth. California had the most towns on the list with four.

Homes.com evaluated nine factors for the ranking from various sources. Factors included average yard size, racial diversity, home sizes, and school districts.

Forney has the nation’s third-best housing price-to-income ratio (2.29) and is the second-best suburb in the number of homes for sale per 100,000 people. Also, Forney’s average yard size is 0.248 acres, the fifth-highest in the ranking.

Forney’s median listing price is $235,100 with an average square footage of 2,101. According to Niche.com, 85 percent of Forney residents own their homes and the median household income is $102,716.

Niche.com ranks Forney 34th in the best suburbs to buy a house in Texas.

Little Elm held its own in Home.com’s work-from-home rankings (1.40), tying for fifth with Leader. Homes.com used WFH scores from the National Association of Realtors for its list.

I agree. I’m in Terrell 15 min or less from Forney and taxes are even higher and so is RE. We r in a bubble and it is going to either pop all at once or slowly deflate.

    Sir,
Perhaps, you are using the new math when you said that, “CA had the most towns on the list with four.”
By looking at the map and the rankings, CA is not even shown or mentioned. TX is number one with three rankings, followed by CO and IL with two.
