Carrie Sethi Loving Life at Compass

Earlier this month, Dallas-based agent Carrie Sethi joined Compass Real Estate. She says that she loved her experience working with her former broker, especially because the company’s training gave a great base in the real estate industry. However, she was wooed away by the technology and networking opportunities that Compass had to offer.

“I’m a big believer in working really hard and smart, and there are so many things that are attractive about Compass from a technology standpoint that make our lives easier,” she said. “Their customer service is amazing, which then inspires you to give great customer service. That makes it easier on your clients.”

Sethi says that real estate in in her DNA. She grew up in Preston Hollow with a father who was involved in both commercial and residential real estate.  He’s still working as a broker today at 83 years old.

After she finished college, Sethi moved to Boston. Her two-decades long career in corporate marketing included time in Seattle where she worked with Microsoft and Starbucks.  She says that working for those two brands taught her a lot about how to utilize technology to be more efficient and take customer service to the next level.

Eventually, Sethi moved back to the Dallas area to be closer to family. Though she still thought about real estate, she had a successful career that left little time in her schedule to pursue it. Then she sold her M Streets neighborhood home that was built in 1918.  Working without an agent, she managed to include language in the contract preventing the new owners from tearing it down. That experience made her realize that she was tired of corporate marketing and ready to focus on real estate.

“Finally I just kind of pulled the trigger,” she says. “That was a little over three years ago and I just love it.”

A sizable amount of her business since then has come from the Lakewood area, close to where she lives. Knowing the area well and being able to quickly meet with potential buyers or address issues at listings has definitely worked to her advantage.

Currently, Sethi is a team of one, but she hopes to expand in the coming years. However, she is adamant about prioritizing quality over quantity and vows never to grow at the expense of any client

“My goal is just to keep working, loving what I do, and expand,” she says. “Compass is definitely going to help me do that.”
