These Lakewood Open Houses Show You How Far $1M Goes

When home shopping in Dallas, it’s almost inevitable that Lakewood comes up.

The neighborhood, which is generally located within the 75214 ZIP code, has a tremendous variety of architecture and scale. It’s an area that has seen builders come in and tear down small cottages built in the 1920s when nearby White Rock Lake was a country home destination for Dallas’ elite families and construct gorgeous moderns, Tudors, Mediterraneans, and more.

But as buyers surely know, prices inside this highly sought-after East Dallas enclave have skyrocketed in recent years. What was once priced below $1 million in Lakewood now goes for $1.5 million — or more. In this week’s Open House Roundup, we focus on homes that are priced around the $1 million mark. Sometimes a home just has a vibe, you know? This particular Lakewood home has a very strong Bohemian vibe that comes with some seriously quirky finishes. If I’m honest, I love this house and I’d attend the Sunday open house just for entertainment value and maybe put in a bid.

So, what constitutes as quirky? I mean, did you see the dark purple front door? Inside, the furniture is groovy and fun, and there’s a semiprecious amethyst insert in the countertop to help infuse your artisan tea with positive energy.

Or something like that.
