We’ve heard some moaning about how our California buyers are not finding existing product that appeals to them. Well, Texans rise to any challenge and are doing bigger and better as a rule,  so it’s not surprising that our  Dallas designers and builders have been working non-stop to bring that California aesthetic to Texas.

New construction is turning heads daily, and this California contemporary spec home is a terrific example of what’s new and exciting in Dallas.

There is an excellent team behind this project, and I suggest you keep your eye on all of these talented folks. John Lively + Associates did the design, Alexis Pearl did the finish selections and Martyn Hammer of Hammer Custom Homes is the builder and broker, and interior designer Jessica Koltun is the listing agent on this custom California contemporary.

“I like everything about this house,” Koltun said. “There is nothing I’d change. It’s rare for me to see a house that I feel is perfect both functionally and aesthetically. I was immediately drawn to Martyn’s homes and style when I first saw one of his houses several years ago. It had California elements and was completely different than any other homes I have seen in Dallas. It reminded me of my time in California and that home ironically sold to a famous DJ from California. Martyn has a unique way of bringing coastal and more California contemporary elements to Dallas.”

Built For Family Entertaining

This California contemporary has 6,628 square feet, six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a powder bath, and a four-car garage, so it’s absolutely perfect for a family.

If that family loves to entertain, it’s an even better fit. Hammer is quite a professional chef, and his love for cooking drives his kitchen design and construction. He’s consulted on the kitchens of several top chefs in Dallas, so you know this kitchen is the real deal for a serious cook.

If you are a serious chef, we know you must have wine. The glass-enclosed wine room is a dramatic statement piece in this home.

“It’s on the right side as you walk into the house,” Koltun said. “It draws you in and sets the vibe for the entire house.”

Thoughtful Outdoor Living

Any party in Texas will move outside when the weather permits, so Hammer has installed huge sliders in the living area and principal bedroom.

He’s also designed the exterior with as much thought and attention to detail as the interior.

“He created these different experiential areas outside,” Koltun said. “There is a double grill area off the kitchen, a cozy fireplace under the patio, the heated pool and jacuzzi, a lounge area for tanning, and a putting green. There are so many opportunities to enjoy yourself.”

There are also 500-square-foot guest quarters on the property with a full bath and kitchenette. This has become a must-have over the past year, and I can’t imagine a home today without this feature.

“There is no other house I’ve been in with that attention to detail,” Koltun said. “For instance, there is no artificial stone in this home. You can easily end up with a sterile look, but the natural stone and wood make it warm and inviting. There is also no white cabinetry. Most builders do white on white, but this home still reads so clean, light, and bright, and the colors that were chosen to play on those natural elements contribute to the indoor-outdoor feel. As a designer and a Realtor, I love it when I can connect to a builder with a similar style and aesthetic. I’m so excited to be a part of this project.”

California agents already have this beauty on their radar, and with the market today, we know all price ranges are moving at the speed of light, so give Koltun a call and see first-hand why 8510 Midway Road in Bluffview is perfectly priced at $3.225 million.
