Nolen Homes

Last week I brought you a Nolen Homes estate priced north of $5 million. If that one was a tad over your budget, no worries.

This modern New England farmhouse by Nolen Homes in Preston Hollow is absolutely fabulous and won’t hurt your wallet quite as much!

Amy Nolen packs the same quality and detail into each home she designs and builds, regardless of size.

“This was a spec home, but I want every home I build to feel like a custom home, so I treat them all like they are mine,” Amy said. “I never want to do the same thing twice. I want all of our homes to feel timeless, cozy, family-friendly, and very livable. I’m always thinking about function and lifestyle.”

There are not a lot of women in the design-build game.

According to the  U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women comprise only 10.3 percent of people working in construction. This is nuts.

Don’t get me wrong, men are great builders, but women bring a different sensibility to construction. They are generally the family budget planners, so they understand cost control. Many are mothers or caretakers of older family members. A natural compassion exists to do the right thing, listen to clients’ needs, and be attentive to details.

Women bring so much value to the table.

This is evident in all of the Nolen Homes projects. While husband Clint is essential in this business, providing his expertise in structural and mechanical engineering and contracts, these homes are Amy’s projects. She’s the one designing the floorplan, planning storage, selecting finish materials, lighting fixtures, and turning out an excellent product every single time.

“As the working mom of three young children, Amy has a busy household,” Compass Real Estate listing agent Julie Provenzano said. “She marries beauty with practical applications for everyday life. Her homes are beautiful but highly functional. Every project is custom, and the wow doesn’t stop on the first floor. For Amy, the project’s integrity is essential, so she puts the same effort into the second floor as the first.”

Storage and Style Throughout

This modern New England farmhouse has 6,868 square feet, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a powder bath, and an enormous playroom.

You will find those family-friendly details everywhere. Storage is critical in every one of Amy’s homes.

“You cannot have enough storage, in my opinion,” Amy said. “I collect so much stuff, and my three boys have way too many toys!”

You’ll see smart storage space in every room, from the principal closet to the mudroom with lockers for the kids. She’s also created a craft room off the laundry, with ample working space.

The second floor family room/playroom

Amy added her signature double garage doors to this home. If you are not familiar with that feature, it’s brilliant. You can open the garage from the backyard or the driveway allowing for more covered entertainment space in addition to the huge covered patio. There’s also a bathroom that’s only accessible from the backyard.

If you want to add an elevator, Amy’s provided for that. She designed an area into the house and ensured the slab was installed to be elevator-ready.

There’s plenty of room for a pool should you want one, as this modern New England farmhouse sits on almost an acre.

“Amy’s homes are clearly different,” Julie said. “Everyone that walks in realizes they are something special. She always seems to add a bit of fairy dust to every project!”

As fast as homes are selling right now, I hope you have a chance to see 6207 Royalton Drive in Preston Hollow. It was just listed at $2.95 million, and frankly, it may be gone by the time you read about it.

But remember, Nolen Homes can always build you another one!
