Finding a luxury lease in Oak Cliff is a rarity, so I was thrilled when this East Kessler Contemporary popped into view. This neighborhood is geographically stunning, and one most people don’t expect to find in Dallas. Architects have taken advantage of the chalk cliffs and heavily wooded landscape to create some of the most stunning homes you’ll find anywhere in America.

East Kessler has always attracted those on the cutting edge of design and innovation. Dallas Power and Light built the first all-electric residence at 1302 Cedar Hill for the Texas Centennial in 1936. Known as a Home of the Future, the Art Moderne home set the bar high for ensuing generations of architects.

Julie Guidry staged the home beautifully with a luxurious, neutral palette.

And those architects have not disappointed. This East Kessler residence was designed by Carlos Vega, who grew up in Mexico in a contemporary home. He’s lived in the area for years and waited patiently for this property to become available because the setting is magnificent.

He spent a year on the design, embracing the .45 acre site with a creek on one side and a bluff on the other. Vega utilized natural materials to connect the house to its natural surroundings. Nowhere is this more evident than the dramatic two-story stone wall that carries through from inside to out.

Vega used a lot of limestone in both honed and chiseled finishes, as well as Brazilian Teak and Walnut woods to warm up the contemporary feel. His clever use of natural elements like a large boulder placed just outside the main bathroom adds a touch of whimsey in the best way.

Working with the topography, Vega was able to add a showstopper pool. It’s raised to the same level as the deck and has both a spa and water feature. Remember, you can’t get a pool built until next summer, so this is a must-have.

This East Kessler contemporary has 4,302-square-feet, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a powder bath. It’s a perfect place to land if you are relocating and trying to sort out Dallas neighborhoods. Trust me. You’ll fall in love with the house and the neighborhood.

Tristen Pulido with Dallas Luxury Realty has this East Kessler contemporary at 650 W. Colorado Boulevard available, fully furnished, for short term leases at $12,500 per month.
