Own Your Own Hill Country-Style Oasis in Flower Mound And Let Peace Begin in The Sweat Lodge

We have an estate for you that delivers unlike any other. It is SO loaded: it offers you the ability to take your entire business home, work from home, play from home, even have a conference for up to 100 people in a fresh-air, on-property venue with plenty of parking.

And if you think 2020 has been a challenging year, we say SWEAT IT OUT! Sweat it out, in fact, in the sweat lodge located on this property!

The sweat lodge (or Temascal) was developed as a way to connect with higher frequencies, to purify body and mind, and to uplift the spirit. Based on ancient and pure medicine, it is a temple that honors the elements of earth, fire, water, and air. A regular weekly tradition in most Native American tribes, the process takes place by the river. Which this property has.

A small, round, closed structure, the sweat lodge resembles an adobe igloo. Red hot rocks are placed in a center pit and medicinal herbs are added. Water is poured on the rocks, which produce a steam that purifies and heals. The symbolism of the steam, and the lodge’s structure represent, of course, the womb, life’s starting place. Providing powerful purification, the combination encourages spiritual expansion. The silence, prayer, and tribal music support your journey.

The leader opens the Sweatlodge ceremony with words of intention, drum beats and songs, pouring water over the rocks. Each participant can offer personal prayers for self, others, in gratitude or for releasing all sorts of pains. A Sweatlodge typically lasts four “doors” or rounds, to the four directions, represented with colors, spirit guides and different elements. Between rounds, more hot stones are brought in and the heat is built gradually until it reaches a certain peak. At the end of the Sweatlodge, participants leave the lodge in a respectful manner.

Trust me, sweat lodges will be the most sought-after exterior amenity after 2020.

Talk about Texas Hill Country style — this home has it everywhere, with a twinge of Santa Fe sprinkled in. The home is constructed of Austin and Blanco stone with stone floors, walls, and carvings including the beautiful great room fireplace mantle.

The estate is set in a six-acre wooded oasis in the heart of Flower Mound. And I do mean “heart” — when I visited the home, it was a short drive to Lakeside and the bustling small shopping centers, restaurants, and activities along Garden Ridge Boulevard.

And if you are looking to where you can work more easily from home, you can start and run an entire corporation in 1208 Oak, Flower Mound, exactly what the current owner does.

One bedroom guest house

And yes, let employees and management sweat it out in the sweat lodge!

But let’s look at the amenities, amenities the likes of which you simply do not find unless you are, well, deep in the heart of the Hill Country.

For example, the property has it’s own private pond, fully stocked with fish and a dock, and backing to a 20-acre forest. Oh the creatures you will see from the safety of a massive back patio and lagoon pool. There is a 3.5 mile walking/jogging track, wide enough for a ATV. Green thumbs, love this: there is a serious greenhouse.

In this home, you do not just get a one-room office, or even his and hers: you get a full-fledged guest house currently serving as a working office. You walk here from the home, and employees can drive up directly, with plenty of parking and fresh circulating air all around.

Then there is the convention center, a 2,000-square-foot structure unto itself outfitted with 14-foot-tall roll-up garage doors to accommodate the largest bus, mobile home, or trailer. Essentially a conference venue, the space has been used for large parties and entertainment: it holds up to 100 guests easily. There is a stage, a bar, a $100,000 lighting system, and probably double that in video/sound equipment.

And with the doors wide open it’s like being outdoors: the air rushes in off the pond.

The lagoon pool is huge, rambling, and features an infinity-edge drop-off plus waterfall. It is surrounded by various patios and enclaves, including the sweat lodge. The property runs over six acres, and the home rambles on for 8,790 square feet. The home is centered by a huge great room with custom-carved fireplace, stone floor, and huge timbers, which overlooks the thickly forested, expansive backyard and pool. The western wing is devoted to the principal bedroom with an enormous spa bath, clawfoot tub on a raised tile platform, heated tiles, private office, and Texas-sized closets that resemble a locker room there is so much storage. The eastern wing holds the kitchen, dining areas, a game room off the pool deck with an aquarium, dining rooms, and more offices. There are four bedrooms total, with three upstairs, all with en suite baths, working fireplaces, charming rustic touches, and built-ins.

Truly, 1208 Oak in Flower Mound is the kind of home families spend millions seeking in far-away, charming places and then spend way too much time getting to.

Sometimes the best is right here, a few verdant miles off Interstate 35 … but so quiet, so hidden, so peaceful, you might just wonder why you didn’t look here first!

Hi Candy, Just wanted to let you know how much Kirsten and I enjoyed meeting you yesterday near the Horton sweat lodge. Love the article you did on the property. If this doesn’t bring a few seriously interested prospects, I’m not sure what will. Give my regards to Dr. E. I have a reminder on my calendar to schedule my overdue appointment on Monday.
