The Three Most Expensive Homes for Sale in Denton County

Share News:

A few weeks ago, we tallied up the casas that’ll cost you the most in Collin County, which were spread throughout the county in McKinney, Prosper, and Frisco. That last one threw us for a loop because Frisco exists in both Collin and Denton counties, and home #3 Starling Drive upon further research turns out to be in Denton County.

Collin, we owe you a number #3, but for this week we’re trekking northwest to Denton County for the top-, second-, and fourth- most expensive existing homes on the market today. No surprise they’re all located in gorgeous Flower Mound, the upscale suburb of estate-sized homes on large acreage lots. Locals playfully call it The Mound, but we call it The Ultimate in Denton County living.

Chateau Du Lac

Address: 5905 Giverny, Flower Mound

  • 8 bedrooms, 6.5+ baths
  • 14,906 square feet
  • 8.34 acres
  • $10.9 million
  • Listed by Jim Strigel of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Flower Mound

The Chateau Du Lac is a showstopper, as we can tell you personally. CandysDirt.com hosted an open house-style Staff Party for readers last summer when it was slated for luxury auction. That was canceled and it went back on the market in February 2019 for $1 million less. The 2008-built home’s sheer volume was staggering: ten-car garage, six living rooms, two full kitchens, a dining hall that can accommodate 28, and a spring-fed pond with your own well house and mill. I promise you, the Joneses don’t have a well house. This gated mansion offers privacy and seclusion on the 8.34 acres of heavily-treed land, as well as many lifestyle options for homeowners, from horses to a helipad.

With 14,906 square feet on two stories, this traditional-style manse was built with every imaginable specialized space. It’s a thrill to walk through the one room after another, each more elegantly appointed and perfectly executed than the last. The attention to detail and fine craftsmanship is particularly evident in the wood-paneled study with a spiral staircase and balcony overlooking the main level of the room.

The wine cellar features a tasting room, perfect for an intimate evening. The wine cellar itself doubles as a safe room, complete with a Murphy bed, television, and, of course, plenty of wine to keep the occupant entertained! And of course, the two kitchens are absolutely top-of-the-line, commercial-grade appliances with multiple sinks, fine cabinetry, and pasta-lovers’ favorite kitchen gadget, the pot filler.

Insider note, agent Jim Striegel says there are options to buy the home with less acreage. Ask him about that and see more photos of Chateau Du Lac on the listing.

Point De Vue Estate

Address: 1808 Point De Vue Drive, Flower Mound

  • 9 bedrooms, 9.5+ baths
  • 21,043 square feet
  • 10.4 acres
  • $9.5 million
  • Listed by Laura Bacon of Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors

Where do you start on this jaw-dropping 2005-built waterfront estate? Karen Eubank, who writes Monday Morning Millionaire, would know how to properly write about this home that was once listed for as much as $19.9 million in 2011, Denton County records show. But let’s dive into this Point De Vue estate located in the same Chateau Du Lac community for which Denton County’s most expensive home is named. When you walk in, the grand lighted staircase sweeps your eye upward along the antique gold textured iron railing and ceiling dome made of refined milk glass set in LED lighting.

From the bespoke tile throughout and imported custom fireplaces to the French antique chandelier and the elegant gourmet kitchen with a butler’s pantry, this home has everything, listing agent Laura Bacon says. Plus, there’s a brick barrel-vaulted ceiling den, floor-to-ceiling brick wine cellar, and Moroccan-style media room with fabric draped ceilings. The equestrian enthusiast will appreciate the three-stall barn with a tack room and large cedar loft plus there’s also a caretaker’s residence, infinity pools, large fountains and a fire pit overlooking the lake.

  • 10,657 square feet
  • 13.19 acres
  • $5.98 million

Before August this year, this Tuscan-styled home had never been on the market. Several months later, it’s now listed as contingent — a pretty quick turnaround for a multi-million-dollar estate. Beautiful simplicity and elegance throughout the open flowing floorplan of this 2014-built home. It’s just a beautiful breath of fresh air.

The living room has cathedral ceilings, exposed wood beams, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, and sliding doors to patio. Kitchen and prep kitchen features plenty of storage, dual farm sinks, gas cooktop, large granite countertop island with custom cabinetry, and pot filler (yay!). The game room has a wet bar and barn door to a fully equipped media room. The master suite offers a fireplace, sitting area, and a spa-like master bath.

Entertain outside with a full outdoor kitchen, living and dining areas, and firepit. Diving pool has tanning ledge, spa, and water feature. For equestrians, there is a three-stable barn that is equipped with office, bath, and a partial AC.
