This East Dallas Cottage Is Updated From Top To Bottom, Inside And Out

The cute little cottage at 10430 Sylvia Drive has a lot going for it including the location. It’s a bit east-ier than you’re thinking, but it’s still close to White Rock, all the trees and the best root beer you’ll ever wrap your lips around at the Dairyette. Plus Casa Linda Bakery, Highland Park Cafeteria, and so much more.

Truly, the greater Casa View area is a solid neighborhood that’s walkable and feels like a community.

Located off Gus Thomasson and Garland, the neighborhood is specifically called Reinhardt. It’s an established neighborhood and most of the homes were built in 1950s. It’s one of the most affordable neighborhoods in East Dallas and definitely worth checking out.

And this three-bedroom, two-bath is definitely, definitely worth checking out. It’s been updated from the bottom up and looks as fresh and open and modern as they come. All new flooring, countertops, and soft closing cabinets AND drawers (which is HUGE if you live with a slammer). That soft-close could save a marriage, for sure.

While all the cosmetic updates in this house are fantastic, including the fresh carpet, new vanities, and completely redone bathrooms with modern fixtures and faucets, it’s really the non-cosmetic updates that stand out.

The remodelers did some big-ticket stuff that’s worth at least a paragraph and a half.

They replaced all the windows and added a new roof and a new HVAC. They replaced the water lines and sewer line presumably from cast iron to PVC which should last for a nice long time. They replaced the water heater, too. And then – you’ll probably want to sit down for this one – they replaced the electrical panel AND REWIRED THE HOUSE.

Seriously. This is the stuff you call your parents about. It’s that big. And it’ll definitely be a beaming because my kid is so smart moment.

All of the above brings us to the new word we just invented – wh-updated. As is, “Whoa, this house has been updated.”

And P.S. we love that brilliant yellow front door and we can’t believe it took us this long to call it out.
