It’s Cute, It’s Mod, It’s Home: Check Out 10402 Church Road

Built in 1962, this Midcentury-style house was a later arrival to the era, but you know what? We’ll take it.

The angles, the ceiling, the updates. Come on. This is a white-and-gray house that feels so modern and open — it’s just waiting for your pops of colors.

Out back there’s a concrete deck shaped like a hexagon. Something different, something fun and that’s kind of the theme of the house.

Out front, you’ll find a fully wooded wall and a matching flower box. Your biggest challenge in this house will be keeping the landscape alive to look as cool and contemporary as it does today.

Step inside and let the openness wash over you or not. Who even talks like that? The main point is this house flows freely and offers soaring ceilings in the living room and a fireplace that’s really more of a statement.

Laminate wood flooring is the perfect contrast to the subtle neutrals and the fresh carpet adds a touch of plush.

This Lake Highlands home is a three bedroom, three bathroom and comes in just over 2,000 square feet, but it feels way bigger.

If you’re into schools, you’ll appreciate that Wallace Elementary feeder and that big yard out front is just begging for a game of freeze tag.

There’s additional space over the garage that you can use as an office or for band practice or just a place to go and do cartwheels because you get to call this house your home. And hello, can we talk about that ultra modern LED circle ceiling light? That’s a yes.

Head into the kitchen and obsess over the glass tile backsplash, generous island and stainless steel appliances.

Let the sun stream in through perfectly placed windows and a sliding glass door which leads you out back to your fenced, treed backyard. If you want to pick up that game of freeze tag back here, go for it. We won’t judge.

Every inch of this house has been updated and it’s fresh, it’s modern and they thankfully held on to that stunning front door.

Call dibs and get in early on this adorable home with easy access to all parts of the city thanks to good ol’ 635.

Listing agent Ryan Antisdale with Door Texas Realty has 10420 Church Road listed at $399,999.

  • It’s a decent house, though I would have loved to see modern cabinets, and non-scraped wood flooring to play up the mid-century feel. I am loving the concrete square fireplace blocks. It reminds me of Eichler homes. The wood/planter out front is a nice touch. Is it just me, or is the all gray look growing tiresome at this point? What’s the next hot neutral color?

Yesss. Honestly when picking homes to write about, if the remodel means turning everything to gray, I pass.
But in this home, I love the fireplace too and little details that make it special and not a plain gray box.

      • It was a good choice to post! I was just lamenting the general over-used gray trend, including the remodels that solely turn everything gray. I love mid-century, so keep it up!
