The time has come to power down those gaming devices, put away the cell phones, turn off the television, and play outside.

Seriously.

The humble three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 5403 Countess Court, Lake Dallas, has so much backyard space, there’s just no excuse when Mom tells the kids to go play outside.

Perched on 6,490 square feet, this Weekend One Hundred selection has so many updates you’d never believe it was built in 1976.

It’s the perfect place to play with pets, throw a ball, put up a trampoline, or install a swimming pool. The new owners may also wish to add a playset or plant a garden, said Realtor Bonnie Brown with Century 21 Judge Fite Co.

Brown listed the move-in ready home at $185,500.

Interior

Updates on this home in the Kings Manor subdivision include new flooring in all three bedrooms and renovated bathrooms. Fresh paint coats both the interior and exterior.

The kitchen features updated counter tops, a recently installed stove, vent hood, and dishwasher.

The HVAC system, including duct work and an upgrade to a three-and-a-half-ton system, was replaced two years ago. The outdoor fence got a makeover, too.

“This home has been loved,” Brown said. “The sellers treasured the warmth and coziness of the den with the wood-burning fireplace. Double glass doors let you watch the backyard while sitting at the dining room table. This is wonderful whether you enjoy watching the birds and butterflies, or if you are keeping an eye on little ones. The seller even placed her desk in that room to enjoy the view when she worked from home.”

Back to school

The kiddos will head back to school this fall at Lake Dallas ISD in Denton County. Lake Dallas Elementary School and Lake Dallas Middle School met all Texas Education Agency standards. However, they did not earn any distinctions for individual subjects. Lake Dallas High School fared slightly better, meeting all standards and earning distinctions in mathematics, comparative academic growth, postsecondary readiness, and comparative closing the gaps.

Demographics, according to ZipDataMaps, show the area is 76 percent white and about 17 percent Hispanic, with a median household income of about $65,579.

The home is just a hop, skip, and a jump to Interstate 35 East, which makes for an easy commute to work or school. The new homebuyers will be about a mile from an Albertson’s grocery store and Walmart Supercenter. The car ride is about five miles to Sam’s Club in Lewisville or Kroger in Denton.
