Plano River Bend Contemporary Is Hot With California Buyers

Share News:

This 80s soft contemporary at 2524 Ellis Court in Plano’s River Bend neighborhood will probably be under contract by the time I press publish on this Thursday Three Hundred post. That’s just how hot this four-bedroom, three-bath home has been, listed for $319,900 by Von Truong of Re/Max Premier Properties. Listed just six days ago, Truong says she’s had approximately 60 showings for the house that seems to be popular with both east- and west-coast transplants.

“The rare contemporary design — many people who relocated here from California and the east coast, that’s what they seem to prefer,” Truong says of the one-story 1980-built home that sits on a half-acre creek lot near Coit Road and Park Blvd. (Full disclosure, I live in this neighborhood.)

Stained wood siding really makes this house pop as you walk under the covered walkway to the custom wood front door. Inside the u-shaped home, find hand-scraped hardwood floors and vaulted, wood beam ceilings. To your left, a large formal living and dining area with floor to ceiling fixed windows, brick fireplace, and built-in shelves. To your right, a spacious family room sits next to the kitchen and breakfast area.

The kitchen is largely original, with original cabinets, laminate countertops, and those good ole’ Hotpoint ovens and built-in microwaves that came with most of the homes in this neighborhood. (Hey, mine still works.) Troung says the home’s under market value price reflects updates needed in the kitchen and master bath.

The master suite has updated tile floors with dual sinks, standalone shower, and sunken garden tub in front of solarium-style windows. Three other bedrooms are situated down the hall with two more baths. The side three-car garage is detached from the house, accessible from a covered walkway and patio. There’s plenty of space to roam in the backyard that has a pool, spa, and both fenced and unfenced grassy areas.

This home is zoned for highly-rated Saigling Elementary, Haggard Middle School, and Plano Senior High School in Plano ISD. See more photos of this hot house on the listing here.

Nice house, but with the current bathroom setup, the owner better hope their neighbors aren’t into drones.

We had a bathroom like that and you couldn’t see in from the outside. It was extremely hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Just had it remodeled last year to get rid of the solarium walls/ceiling and have a more realistic tub.
