Splurge vs Steal: Two Renovated Houses in Cochran Heights

Cochran Heights is a wonderfully central Dallas neighborhood, walking distance to all the pleasures of the Knox-Henderson area with quick access to Central Expressway, making it minutes from downtown Dallas. Development started in the 1940s and many older homes are being renovated for maximum enjoyment. 

In this week’s Splurge vs Steal, we’re looking at two houses in Cochran Heights that description. Which one is your favorite?

 

SPLURGE: RENOVATED TRADITIONAL WITH POOL, REDUCED ALMOST $50K

Our steal is located at 5107 Pershing St. and has a list of renovations a mile long. It was taken to the studs, rebuilt and expanded with new electrical, plumbing, encapsulated foam insulation, roof, low-E windows, and more. This home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, and 1,811 square feet on three stories, built in 194o. 

Inside, you’ll find arched doorways, hand-scraped hardwood floors, recessed lights, and vaulted ceiling. The front living area is anchored by a fireplace and is close to the kitchen, with its custom wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and large breakfast bar. The master suite has vaulted ceilings and an ensuite bath with a large bathtub and separate shower. This home was listed July 6 by Jarrad Barnes with Dave Perry-Miller InTown for $575,000.
