S&R Development Builds Preston Hollow Success Story

We have more proof that CandysDirt.com Approved Builder S & R Development Inc. can build and sell a home faster than we can write about them. This Preston Hollow house went on the market and was under contract in under ten days.

“There were several on the market at the same time. But this was the only one that sold right away,” said Saad Chehabi, principal at S&R Development.

The 4,800-square-foot home comes with two master bedrooms downstairs, three bedrooms upstairs, a separate gym room, elevator, and storage on both the upstairs and downstairs levels. Priced just under $2 million, it had everything a buyer could want. Even though the home now has residents living in it, we managed to wrangle a few photographs so you can see some of the impressive work the builders did.

S&R not only built the home, but they did all the design in-house. “We wanted it to be very airy, with clean lines and oversized windows. It’s what I call a Mediterranean house with clean lines,” said Chehabi. One example of their design know-how is this one-of-a-kind fireplace surround. It was made on site from hand-cut limestone. We love how it is just a few shades darker than the white on the rest of the wall spaces so that it stands out as a focal point without drawing too much attention to itself.

The nearby kitchen area is where every design decision was thought through to the tiniest detail. Let’s start with the cabinets by Bentwood Luxury Kitchens based in Lancaster, Texas. They are known for high-end kitchen work and here they provided the perfect style cabinets that find the balance between creating a space that is clearly designated for the kitchen, but doesn’t look at all out of place with the open-plan living room.

Here’s another angle so you can see the climate-controlled wine storage shelves right between the fridge and the freezer. Naturally the kitchen came with SubZero appliances and a Wolf stove. Plus, we have to mention the chandelier that comes with Edison bulbs. They are designed to look like candles and even emit a warm-yellow glow that makes them feel like their light could be coming from an open flame.

Here’s one of the eating nooks that looks out to the backyard. There’s a covered porch that comes with an outdoor kitchen area, including a built-in grill, and then an open backyard with a privacy wall.

Here’s the full effect of how the living room and kitchen all work together as soon as you walk in the front door.

Speaking of the front door. We have to mention how the steel frame industrial look goes so well with the rest of the home. Anyone who works in the business knows how important the front door is to defining the look of a house, and the designers did a great job of coming up with an elegant design that is practical, too. Just like all the other floor-to-ceiling windows in the house, the windows in the door are very well-insulated double-paned glass with a UV coating to protect from the sun.

One of the things that UV coating has to protect is the solid white oak floors throughout the first floor. They brighten up the whole level and subtly match the wooden ceiling beams used over one of the dining areas to add a rustic touch.

We leave you with two pictures of the master bath decked out in white marble so you can see how the design theme of clean lines carried through even to the spaces where few people will go.
