Share News:

Every Thursday we select a few great open houses for our readers to check out over the weekend. This week in CandysDirt.com Open Houses of the Week, we’ve even found one that was featured on Houzz.com! They range in price from $369,000 to $825,000. Which ones will you visit?

NORTH DALLAS DESIGNER RANCH

Open house: Sunday, June 24, 1-3 p.m.

It’s hard to beat a ranch, and it’s impossible to beat this one because it’s been updated so beautifully and it was featured in D Magazine a few years ago. This North Dallas designer ranch at 5640 Willow Lane has a great floorplan with a separate master wing that includes a sitting room. We love a house with the kids’ bedrooms at the opposite end! The piece de la resistance in this ranch is the kitchen. It’s a designer showcase with a bold yellow Bertazzoni range, white quartz countertops and check out the floor and the ceiling. Who would not want to cook in this designer’s dream?

With 3,268 square feet, five bedrooms, and four bathrooms, and located near all of the North Dallas private schools, it’s a perfect family home.

This rockin’ ranch is listed by Lauren Farris with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s for $825,000.

FEATURED ON HOUZZ.COM

Open house: Sunday, June 24, 3:30-5:00 p.m.

This is one of those fabulous 1960s homes that are so easily updated that they are hard to find anymore. This one at 9823 Edgecove Drive in Lake Highlands is the home of an interior designer, and was featured in Houzz.com. She’s pulled out all the stops in this 2,295-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom beauty. The family room is open to the completely updated kitchen with granite counter-tops and stainless steel appliances. The backyard has covered living space, a professionally-designed tree fort and a board-on-board fence with electric gate.

“It’s a totally different layout, and it’s unexpected in a good way,” Local Resident Realty listing agent Amy Timmerman said. “There are 32 kids on the street under the age of 9, and it’s not a through street, so it’s safe. It’s a fun street!”

This fun, funky, and fabulous home is listed for $499,000.

A MOD, MOD HOUSE!

Open house: Saturday, June 23, 1-3 p.m.

We turned to our favorite resource — A Field Guide to American Houses by Virginia Savage McAlester — to get some background on this style. Although you’d be tempted to define 3218 Grantwood Drive as a midcentury modern, it’s considered to be modern or, more specifically, soft contemporary, as it was built in 1968. This particular style was a favorite of architects at the end of the 1960s and well into the 1970s. It reminds us of The Brady Bunch house.

The house has been updated in all the right places. The kitchen has new wood-faced cabinets with soft touch doors and drawers, a KitchenAid dishwasher, Jenn-Air gas range, porcelain farm sink, Marmoleum floors, black Paperstone countertops, and a glass tile backsplash.

With 2,276 square feet, four bedrooms and two bathrooms, a powder bath and a large fenced yard, it is perfect for your bunch!

Philip Hobson with Berkshire Hathaway has it listed for $369,000.
