This Updated Lochwood Ranch Was Made For a Millennial

When it comes to life on this side of the lake, there are few neighborhoods in East Dallas that still retain much of their character like Lochwood. Located on the north east side of White Rock Lake, hugging the borders to Old Lake Highlands and the L Streets, this neighborhood is delightfully hilly, with long stretches of greenbelts that curve around creeks, huge parks, and great neighbors. And it’s no wonder that, with the still bordering on affordable real estate in this neighborhood, Millennials have been searching for the right place to claim their first home.

We’ve seen our share of flips in Lochwood, one of the few remaining somewhat affordable neighborhoods inside the loop, and though we’ve easily fallen in love with them, there’s something to be said about knowing when to stop “updating.” Need an example? Check out this cute Lochwood ranch listed by Lauri Ann Hanson and Aimee Schreiner with Dwell Partners Realty at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.

“Located in one of East Dallas’ best ‘under the radar’ neighborhoods, Lochwood, this three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath, recently remodeled home is a perfect starter home,” Schreiner said. “It’s within walking distance to Lochwood Park and close proximity to White Rock Lake, so you can enjoy all that East Dallas has to offer right at your fingertips.”

Topping out at 1,582 square feet on a .19 acre lot, our Tuesday Two Hundred at 11311 Sinclair has a modest size with plenty of features that will impress Millennial buyers. Hanson and Schreiner have listed this cute one-story for $249,900.

“In addition to the kitchen and bathroom remodel in 2011, the sellers have improved and modernized the home by adding fresh paint throughout the home, new A/C and air ducts, new lighting, and added a French drain,” notes Hanson. “The kitchen is my favorite area of the home. There is a wall full of pantry storage (genius addition!) plus stainless steel appliances and I love the built-in cabinets in the breakfast area. The garage was converted to a second living area in 2015, providing ample space for an office, game room, man-cave, play room — the options are endless! Did I mention there is also a built-in wine fridge?”

In the hallway, you can see that the sellers left one of the original details in this 1955-built Lochwood ranch — the telephone nook!

The converted garage at 11311 Sinclair has a built-in bar with a wine fridge.

“This home was originally built in 1955 and lovingly restored and updated with granite countertops, a contemporary spa-like bathroom, original restored hardwoods, plantation shutters, a deck overlooking the oversized backyard, plus a second living, play room or game room,” Schreiner added. “All of these updates plus the location at such a economical price point in Dallas-Fort Worth is almost unheard of these days and we can’t wait for it to find it’s lucky new owners!”

There are some great updates that we haven’t talked about that bear mentioning, chief among them is the plethora of ceiling fans throughout 11311 Sinclair — an absolute must come summer. We also love that the original warm brick hasn’t been painted, and that the car port out front offers covered parking even though the garage was converted.
Of course, there’s a cute deck int he backyard, which is a great hangout spot.  The backyard is like catnip to gardeners with all that raw space, ready to be planted. You’ll also appreciate the mature trees on this lot, which offer plenty of shade during the hotter months. What a great little Lochwood ranch!
