2 Skyline Drive Trophy Club is currently listed for $475,000.

Get out your pocketbooks folks, this one will go fast! Feast your eyes on this impeccably remodeled family home in idyllic Trophy Club, just listed for $475,000, by Mindy Niehaus of Century 21 Nathan Grace Fine Homes & Estates.

Here at CandysDirt.com, we love a good before and after, and this one does not disappoint! Niehaus, who happens to be the original buyer’s agent for the current owners, is helping them sell it now, and put us in touch with the sellers, Brittany and Kemp, to get the story behind the home’s magnificent makeover. Let’s start with a side-by-side comparison, shall we?

“Brittany and I know each other from our days at Oklahoma State University,” says Niehaus. “When she told me that her family was relocating to Dallas, I was so excited to find her the perfect home. In Oklahoma, they had just renovated a home with a baby and another baby was on the way. We ruled out fixer uppers, and discussed neighborhoods that would provide great schools, friendly communities, close access to the highway for Kemp’s job, and of course restaurants and shopping!”

Though Niehaus did a fair amount of advance work, they had quite the job cut out for them.

“Since they came in from out-of-town, we had just one day of house hunting — no pressure,” she joked. “But one day was enough — 2 Skyline Drive in Trophy Club had a lot of what we were looking for! It had been on the market for 150-plus days and the seller was the original owner from 1988. It was a charming home on a corner lot, but did need some updating and customization for their young kids. They were ready and willing to take on projects for this gem. It didn’t take much convincing from me — Kemp and Brittany were writing a contract within minutes of viewing.”

Their swift action would later result in what we’re calling the transformation of a lifetime, turning this humble abode into their dream home by incorporating a series of sophisticated updates that will make you say “WOW!” If you ever needed proof of what a fresh coat of paint, upgraded counters, new fixtures and a little interior design savvy can do, this is it.

Boasting 3,048 square feet of gracious living and entertaining space, this four-bedroom, three-full-and-one-half-bath home offers great curb appeal, a gorgeous pool, and a huge fenced backyard. But the real magic starts once you enter the front door.

CandysDirt.com: What inspired you initially to buy this gem, and then remodel?

Brittany and Kemp: Well, the house we owned prior to this sold way more quickly than we anticipated, leaving us one day to find a home in a new state! With Mindy’s help, we narrowed it down to nine houses, and after a marathon house hunt on Saturday, this property was the only one I could envision as a family home.

CD: What builder, contractor, or interior designers did you use and why?

B&K: We used a builder named Ed Cook for a lot of the work — he was a friend of my dad’s and a great help. I found a painter through a friend in Dallas and used him for our interior woodwork and exterior painting. I’ve always loved decorating homes, so I guess I did the interior design.

CD: What was the overall goal? Can you share your creative ideas and themes used in the transformation?

B&K: The overall goal was warm and inviting. We wanted to be able to LIVE in it, and it functioned so well for us. The exterior of the home doesn’t lend to a super-modern interior in my opinion. So instead of marble bathroom counters we opted for wood slabs with updated sinks. I would say the theme is kind of “farmhouse.”

CD: Any special features, finishes, or additions to highlight?

B&K: The fact it has a pool and a yard was a major selling point for me. With two young kids, they need space to burn off energy. We highlighted that by using a glass fence around the pool making it open feeling and safe.

CD: What do you love most about the home and its final outcome?

B&K: I love this home so much, it was not an easy decision for us to list it! It functions so well for a family, the play room is off the kitchen, with the living space adjacent, so there’s space for everyone! It’s also easy to entertain because the kitchen and living spaces are close to the outdoor living spaces. The overall feel of the home is warm and comfortable.

CD: What is your favorite room or space and why?

B&K: My favorite room is probably the “formal” living. It has so much natural light and really high ceilings. It took me a little bit to get the furniture right, but I love how it turned out.

CD: Who is this home perfect for?

B&K: This home is perfect for a family! We remodeled it for our family and it functioned so well for us!

CD: Why sell now?

B&K: We had an opportunity arise in another state where we have family. We hate to sell our lovely home, and if we could bring it, we would! We hope to find buyers who love it as much as we do!

CD: What do you love about working with Mindy Niehaus and having her represent you on both the buy and sell side?

B&K: Mindy is not only our Realtor, she’s our friend, and she’s become even more so through our buying and selling. She is a professional and it shows. She takes care of her clients in all the small and big details. We love her and appreciate all the work she puts in. When we bought the home it was a big time crunch and she was patient and showed us everything in one day! She is great at her job but more importantly a great person.

As for Niehaus, she says: “The home has such a rich look and feel throughout. I love the windows, grand ceilings, and the new wood floors. The floorpan has a great layout for indoor/outdoor hosting, especially with the pool and large yard! The home reminds me of my favorite childhood movies like Father of the Bride or Home Alone — I just want to grow up here!”

This once-in-a-lifetime transformation at 2 Skyline Drive in Trophy Club is listed for $475,000.
