A Texas Hill Country-Feeling Contemporary in Dallas, Without The Long Drive

Hill Country Contemporary

We just returned from a lovely weekend editorial retreat at Boot Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. I can safely say the entire CandysDirt.com staff fell in love with not just the beauty of the landscape, but also with the stunning homes.

If you can’t move to the Hill Country, but are longing for the lifestyle, we’ve found the perfect place in what has to be one of the best locations in Dallas.
Our Monday Morning Millionaire is a spectacular 9,481-square-foot Texas Hill Country contemporary at 9226 Hathaway Street. Nestled between Northwest Highway, the Dallas North Tollway, and Inwood Road, you can get almost anywhere in under 15 minutes.

What? Oh, Candy tells me she used to live in this ‘hood at 5511 Park Lane, one block over. Best location ever, she says, proximity to everything! True to the area, the house sits on 1.74 acres of resort-style grounds. There are 1,400 square feet of covered verandas, terraces, limestone walls, and patios that made us think we were back at Boot Ranch. Doesn’t everyone want a home that makes you feel as if you are on vacation every day?

“You have to see it, to believe it,” Ebby Halliday listing agent Mary Poss said. “The rooms are huge, and the finish out is spectacular.”Hill Country Contemporary

There are five bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, and an additional bathroom — if you’re counting that’s six in total and two powder baths. The media room has 15 huge reclining leather chairs.  There are also two game rooms, one for the adults and one for the kids.

The real draw of these resort-style homes are the outdoor amenities. That’s what makes them feel like you are on a daily vacation.

The lush grounds (the present owners added additional trees) include a large spa, a pool with a waterfall and slide, and a stone deck. The home is built for non-stop entertaining. There is a covered patio (with a heating element in the ceiling), an outdoor kitchen, a pergola with dining for eight, a huge fire pit, a luxurious cabana, an arbor, and a separate swimming pond — yes a swimming pond!

Yes, you can swim in the pond!

If you want to channel your inner Raphael Nadal or Serena Williams, there is a regulation-sized tennis court, which was just completely redone.

The commercial-grade sound system is not exclusive to the interior. “There are dozens of outdoor speakers,” Poss said. “You can easily have an outdoor concert.” When you add in the LED color lighting, even your kids will feel like star performers.

This $6.6 million Texas Hill Country contemporary is over the top and move-in ready! Oh and yes, Hathaway does back up to the Dallas North Tollway — Candy calls it an urban waterfall. But the truth is, this home is on such a deep lot, and so packed with the soothing sound of water features, you’ll forget it’s there until you hop on to get somewhere, lickety-split.
