If you’re dreaming of Frank Sinatra singing, “Fly Me To The Moon,” cocktails that are shaken — not stirred, and Palm Springs poolside lounging, we have your next home! Our Inwood National Bank House of the Week at 910 W. Colorado Blvd. is a flawless Oak Cliff midcentury modern that could easily be a location for any Rat Pack movie.

It’s always exciting to happen upon a home that has been not only well maintained, but also beautifully, thoughtfully, and responsibly updated. You midcentury enthusiasts know what I mean. Homes like these should never be owned by people that don’t get it. Fortunately, the present homeowner not only got it, he knew exactly how to improve it.

This midcentury modern was built in 1953 for the owners of Oak Cliff Mirror & Glass. Can you imagine having all that glass at your beck and call? The architect took advantage of his resource, creating huge windows and sliding glass patio doors to showcase the gorgeous views from every room in the 3,910-square-foot home.

“That family had the home for almost 30 years,” listing agent Brian Bleeker said.

The current owner is responsible for the tasteful renovations and on-point updates that include raised ceilings — and can we talk about those ceilings! They are a work of geometric art! Every single buyer of a midcentury modern home take note and raise your ceilings!

Donghia grasscloth was added to the walls in the living, dining and family rooms.

The fireplace has the original smoker built in, and it’s still functioning!

The kitchen features commercial appliances, including a Thermador gas range and a Sub Zero refrigerator.

The master has direct access to the swimming pool.

The master bathroom was expanded, and limestone countertops added along with Ann Sacks tiles and terrazzo floors. Just look at that window and how beautifully it frames the pool’s waterfall!

This is what I mean by thoughtful updates.

When you own a midcentury modern home, you have to appreciate what you have and understand the best way to move that house into this century. For instance, two vintage bathrooms were left intact in this home. The owner found beautiful Elitis and Casamance wallpapers that enhance the period and leave no doubt you’re in a hip home.

“I saw this house when it was on the market before the present owner purchased it,” Bleeker said. “It needed updating.  I was blown away when I saw what the present owner had done, and floored at how current it was — and yet how he still managed to maintain the vintage feel. His inspiration was a Palm Springs look.”

He nailed it.

The house has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a powder bath, and sits on an acre of land, which is almost as exciting as the house.

To get specific, it’s a terraced .99-acre wooded lot with a natural spring-fed creek, and there’s a surprise on the property.

The pool and hot tub mirror the 1950’s Palm Springs era.

“There is a spring-fed lily pond that has been curated by all the owners over the years,” Bleeker said. “There’s a walkway over the pond to a 250-year-old log cabin. that was installed by the original owners. The current owner uses it as a bar for Halloween parties!”

That lily pond has an added benefit — eco-friendly pest control in the form of bullfrogs and dragon flies!

“It’s the most organic mosquito system you could ever hope for,” Bleeker said.

The Bleeker-O’Brien Group at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate has this shagadelic property listed for $1.295 million.

Bleeker put it succinctly, “The whole world seems like it’s behind you when you enter the front gates. This is it, Daddy-O!”

This is the home my grandparents, Bill and Katherine Dore built for their family. Many wonderful memories made here for me and my 6 siblings. Love to see the great renovations, just beautiful.

That is wonderful, I love this house. Do you have any photos of what it used to look like? I am so curious to see how it was originally. You can just imagine what incredible history this home has.
