Natural light is the best accessory for any home, and the interior of our Thursday Three Hundred is bathed in it.

The 1973 Lake Highlands home at 9517 Fallbrook Dr. features a wall of floor-to-vaulted-ceiling windows in the front living area. Many other rooms bring big windows to the design plan, and the result is lovely and bright.

But this house is not just another pretty listing. It’s packed with functional updates, from a newer roof, patio, and HVAC upstairs, to new privacy fence, landscaping, and updated electrical. And with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bath, two living areas, two dining areas, and 2,556 square feet on two stories, there’s lots of options for ways to enjoy the house.

Located in the Town Creek neighborhood of Lake Highlands, this is an area of 592 homes with lots of natural beauty. Mature trees canopy many of the streets and populate a greenbelt along Jackson Branch, a tributary of White Rock Lake. Town Creek is bordered by Briarhurst Drive and Atherton Drive on the north, Arbor Park Drive on the east, Royal Lane on the south, and Abrams Road on the west.

With two huge shade trees and ground cover instead grass, the pretty front yard is a lower-maintenance option, which in my book is a win. There’s a cute courtyard at the entrance, and I love that turquoise front door — would definitely take the glass storm door off to be able to better appreciate it.

Inside, find fresh paint throughout, and a mix of brick, tile, and hardwood floors on the first floor, and carpet on the second-story. To the right of the entryway is the dining area with its sputnik chandelier and the large front living area with brick accent walls and a fireplace. Seriously, those windows are fabulous.

The eat-in kitchen includes tons of cabinetry and a built-in, as well as granite countertops, glass mosaic tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, including double ovens.

The backyard offers a covered patio, modern fencing, herb planter, and multiple seating areas.

And just in case you weren’t convinced, here are some other updates and additions from the past few years: new windows, sliding glass door, hardwood floors, carpet, French drain, dishwasher, and closet systems.

This Lake Highlands home was listed June 30 by Andrew Scott with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate for $413K, reduced last week to $399,999.

So many different flooring materials…and the photos make the painted paneling in the living room look splotchy. Nice yard. Like the big fireplace.

I’ve ducked in this house in person. The flooring works. Its dressed to a T. The sellers have done a great job. I am surprised its still on the market based on the LH/Dallas market.
