Guess what classic architectural style for homes is hip and trendy these days?

If you guessed midcentury modern, then you are correct.

The Ridglea Hills neighborhood in Fort Worth is on of the best areas for midcentury modern homes, and there is a newly re-done home that’s a must see!

Remind Me About Midcentury Modern

For those of you who need a refresher course, midcentury modern was a style designed to bring modernism into the post-war suburbs of America.

Homes were built with open, functional spaces for the families who lived in them.

Windows allowing for natural light to flood into the home were common. Multi-level homes with exposed wooden beams, varying roof pitches, and a concentrated effort to merge the home with nature were facets of the midcentury modern movement

6701 Woodstock was vacant for 5+ years and now it's alive!

Notice the banded windows and relationship of drought resistant plants with the home…hip and smart.

The midcentury modern home at 6701 Woodstock Road in Fort Worth is a perfect example of this classic architectural style with a dash of trendy, modern hip style.

What is Modern Hip?

Modern Hip?  What is that?  No it’s not a new style to study but the marriage of older homes with today’s clean and fresh materials and colors to make the home have pop and sizzle.  (I’m writing the article so I can create a new term!)

This home, originally built in 1953, is a 1,974-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath one-story with a study and a very hip double-sided fireplace.

A Jog Worth Taking

The seller of the home noticed it one day while on a jog through the neighborhood, and knew it would be a gem.

A previous owner had attempted to re-do the home years ago but then stopped, and 6701 Woodstock sat unfinished and vacant for years.

There were bags covering the beautiful windows and the home was headed for ruin.

With knowledge of renovations and desire to bring the home back to life, the seller accepted the task.  And what a job they did!

Now the home features original refinished hardwood floors, (no carpet in this home!) energy-efficient windows, modernized kitchen, plumbing fixtures, fence, roof, electrical system, sprinkler system, drought resistant plants, and a tankless water heater.

The seller also realized that the original master closet just wouldn’t suffice, so they increased the size. Now it has plenty of hanging space, as well as room for the washer and dryer.
