If you’ve driven down Easton Road toward Lake Highlands Drive, no doubt you’ve likely see this home before. It commands a very visible corner in Lochwood, perched upon a hill. Its square build and curved second-story balcony are distinctive and offer views of the nearby neighborhood from its vantage.

And now it’s about to be back on the market with an agent that knows this area better than almost anyone: David Collier of David Griffin & Company Realtors. And we’re happy to feature it as this week’s High Caliber Home sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

The home at 10506 Silverock Drive in Lochwood was designed by architect Donald B. Kleinschmidt and built in 1967 as his personal home. It has the graceful, defined lines of a midcentury modern home with the solid construction of the time. There are three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a study, a den, and a two-car garage at the base of the home.

Of course, when you’re dealing with a home that is so well known in a location that is so prominent, listings don’t stay on the market for long. In fact, the last time this home was on MLS was in 2009 and it only lasted three days.

“Rarely does a home of this significance come on the market,” Collier noted. And because of that, it’s been priced accordingly at $715,000.

What you really get from this home is the floorplan and views. The street-facing balcony sits in front of a wall of windows that allows treetop views of the area from the formal living and dining rooms.

“The house was designed with multiple levels and an extensive use of glass throughout,” Collier said. “There are several outdoor spaces that bring the outside in and are designed to provide totally privacy.”

A wonderfully dramatic design feature is the gradually sloping roof that allows those levels that Collier mentioned to offer different rooms and spaces form the floor plan, which flows in a somewhat linear fashion from the balcony back to the rear of the home. That gentle slope is accentuated by the exposed beams, built-in cabinetry, and beautiful wood floors — a stellar layout for entertaining and collecting.

I love the very minimalist bathrooms in this home. The master suite has a very minimalist feel, which is intentional. While more and more homeowners seek out master retreats — bedrooms that feel like homes in their own right, complete with coffee bars, his-and-hers master baths, as well as living areas. In this home, though, life is meant to be lived outside of the bedroom, so a single sink and a shower fit the mold perfectly.

Of course, the views are outstanding — both from the balcony and from the backyard area. There’s a lovely pool, a patio, and a great side deck that is perfect for grilling.

We are completely in love with this home and we know that the minute it hits MLS, it will rake in several offers. If you’re in love with it, too, you should contact Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans to get pre-approved today!

I remember touring this in 2010 on the White Rock home tour. It had more of the mid-century modern feel at that time. It is nice to see the small tiles in the bathroom, but much of the rest is a bit bland. The decor isn’t exactly what I recall from the home tour, but this listing shows older photos inside the home https://www.trulia.com/homes/Texas/Dallas/sold/1657466-10506-Silverock-Dr-Dallas-TX-75218

Everything about the presentation of this home is top notch; the photography, the staging, the furnishings, the color, the architecture, and I could go on and on. After seeing the older listing below, it sure shows you what nice furnishings and/or staging can do for a home.

I agree with Betty that the staging is much better now. It looked really good on the White Rock Home Tour, which was in between the old listing decor and now. Despite my sadness at some of the de-MCMing (I made that up) of some of the details, it hasn’t hurt this home’s saleability. It’s already listed as pending. That’s pretty impressive at that upper mid-range price point.
