5711 Orchid Front

I may not be a huge fan of traditional architecture, but I do love a Mansard roof. I also love well-planned pops of color, which is what initially drew me to 5711 Orchid Lane in Preston Park. That teal front door spoke to me, and I had to show this home to you, too. But, worry not, dear reader — there’s even more to love about our Friday Five Hundred inside!

I love how the interiors of this four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home have been reimagined in a more transitional style. Dark hand-scraped hardwood floors run throughout the first floor of this 2,715-square-foot home just across from St. Mark’s School. It adds a nice contrast to the white walls — perfectly repainted wood paneling, too! — and looks great with the contemporary living room. The floor plan has been opened up, connecting the dining room, living room, and kitchen, making it perfect for entertaining.

I love the two-tone, European-style cabinetry in the kitchen, especially that oversized island. Stainless steel appliances are included, and the tile floors in the kitchen just gleam! There’s also a private courtyard just off the kitchen, as well as a larger backyard off of the living room.  The lighting strikes the perfect balance of form and function, and we love how you get a view into the beautiful living room from the sink. The vaulted ceilings in the living area really stand out from here!

The master suite has been redone with aplomb. It’s the only bedroom on the first floor of this home, which is perfect for families with children that don’t need too much parenting at night. The bedroom is open and quite sizable at 13 feet by 19 feet, and features a floor-to-ceiling window that looks out to the front yard. In the master bath, it’s a vision of bright white and perfectly neutral tones. That single-bowl farmhouse sink is so swoon-worthy!

There are three more bedrooms upstairs, as well as an additional full bath.

Outside, you’ll see that there’s plenty of space for your grill and potted plant collection, as well as an adorable shed with teal doors and shutters to match the main home. What a cute touch! And the backyard all feels very private thanks to the new fence.

This cute, completely updated traditional in Preston Park is listed by Matthew Rice of The Trophy Group for $599,000.
