We had the treat of attending the 2015 CEDIA Future Home Experience. And what an experience it was to get a sneak peek into the future of home technology.

The CEDIA expo is an annual convention showcasing the top trends in home technology. This year it was hosted at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center. How cool is it that Dallas hosted such a techie and trendy event?

Steve Elliston over at Elliston Systems and Design gave us our access passes to 2015 CEDIA Future Home Experience. He’s one of the top smart home installers in the country.

“Spaces will continue to be designed interactively using smart phone and tablets to control smart technologies,” Elliston said. “Modern technology in home design is important, but we never want to distract from the aesthetic of the design. So we work hard to ensure the integrity of the space remains the same, but the technology increase efficiency and brings new life to the home.”

The showroom floor was incredible. Everything that goes into a smart home system was there (even products we didn’t know existed). Strolling through the awesome interactive booths, we learned tons of new ways tech is being integrated into the home.

With so many innovative solutions, it was hard to pick, but here is a breakdown of our favorites.

Home Automation

Literally you can control everything in your home from your iPad. Shades, music, security and more can be modified by a swipe on your device. This can really increase the quality of your home.

Electric Mirror

This, we need! The electric mirror has a TV inside and a fog free surface. Never miss a minute of news or the big game while getting ready.

4K Ultra HD TVs

4K Ultra High Definition TVs thing in television technology. The demos we saw were unreal. Watching the game on these screens could quite possibly beat actually attending.

Dolby Atmos Home Theatre

The Dolby Atmos audio technology has taken home theatre to the next level. The sound quality blew our socks off. It’s the same three dimensional sound that you experience at the movies but now available at home.

Inada Massage Chair

Not naming any names, but one of us may or may not have spent a lot of time at this booth. Our dogs were barking after a long day of walking so these massage chairs provided a much needed relief.

Automated Shades

These wireless shade solutions are not only highly functional, but beautiful too. They offer security, convenience and energy efficiency. These could be a big selling point in your home. And the added security of having these shade programed are ideal for second homes.

Beautiful Shades of Luxury

We’ve been seeing more and more smart home technology in the real estate market. And after exploring new audio, video and home automation products, it is clear, this is the where the future of design is heading.

With the numerous products and the wonderful vendors, the CEDIA Future Home Experience was definitely a hit!

I think every minimum-wage employee who spends their whole day in physically demanding work should get one of those massage chairs for free.

And who would pay for those chairs, Jon? Most are made in China and the Chinese are not big on freebies…
