Oh come on Griff Botz! I wish more people spent more time loving others, regardless of their personal beliefs. What have you done in the last 30 days to combat homelessness across the United States or prevent other life threatening problems? Did you help every possible cause?

Just because this isn’t something that will impact you doesn’t mean it’s not important to millions of other people. It is a reason to celebrate. And if you think this will affect you, please read the following:

LGBT youth account for 40% of all homeless youth — depending on the ratio of gays in society is used, gay youth are 4-8 times more likely to be homeless. Within that 40%, LGBT homeless youth are also twice as likely (62%) to commit suicide than straight homeless youth (29%). Homeless youth are also 3-times more likely to be HIV+. So maybe, just maybe, if the parents of gay kids were more tolerant, these numbers would decline and lives would be saved. Societal equality goes a long way to changing people’s minds, and maybe, just maybe decreasing youth homelessness.
