The thing about buying a home from a super sports star like, say, Jose Calderon, is that when a guy has a #28 million contract, you just know he’s not going to skimp out on anything in his home. Like, those light fixtures are definitely not from the Home Depot, so sir.
I present to you the magnifique Santa Barbara styled palace of Jose Calderon, former Dallas Maverick who is now playing for the New York Knicks. Too bad he has to unload this vavavavoom at 3417 Villanova in University Park. Listed for a mere $2,495,000, this California delight is marketed by Jamie Adams, agent to the sports star world, at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International real estate.
Built in 2009, the 6737 square foot home was built in 2009, so it is practically brand new and in such perfect shape you could move in without a touch-up. The home has five bedrooms, six baths, one powder room, with an abundance of natural sunlight. The rooms are large and open, with a sweeping flow between the formals tailored for entertaining large groups of people. The kitchen is striking in it’s sleek design, but loaded with the latest and greatest Chef tools, and opens to the living area. The master bedroom and bath are exquisite, and there is a large media/game or child’s play room over the garage.
Best of all, the home has a stunning UP location perched right across from Coffee Park, so the kids can frolic right across the street under the watchful eyes of Nanny or Mom. It goes without saying that kiddos also attend the top rated Highland Park School District.
Too bad Jose had to get traded to New York — he will never find this much space or stunning design in the big Apple for two and a half million. No siree, for that he’ll get a nice place in SoHo or maybe even the Upper East side, but 6700 square feet in Manhattan? No way, Jose.

This is my favorite home on Villanova. The inside is just as fabulous as the outside. I’m surprised though that this house didn’t have a pool.
I think it’s because they have small children. I refused to have a pool until my youngest was four and swam like a fish!
As a Mavs fan, I’m going to miss Jose. Beautiful home!
