Friday Four Hundred: Winnetka Heights Stunner is So Fetching It Won't Last Long!

300 Edgefield FrontI am just loving some of the homes in North Oak Cliff right now! Excellent properties in wonderful, active neighborhoods that are growing by leaps and bounds. It’s like Lakewood down south, as more upwardly mobile families move in, become involved in the public schools, and create their own desireable neighborhoods. They’re doing it through organizations like the Rosemont Early Childhood PTA, Bike Friendly Oak Cliff, and the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League. They’re bringing in small businesses, great restaurants, and developing empty lots and redeveloping vacant and decaying properties. They’re making their neighborhood a great place to live.

And the houses, well, they are too cute to boot! My favorite neighborhoods in North Oak Cliff include Kings Highway, Kessler Park, Stevens Park, and Winnetka Heights. These are wonderful areas full of adorable homes, and so many of these great houses are in fabulous shape. For example, let’s take a look at this week’s Friday Four Hundred: 300 S. Edgefield Ave. in Winnetka Heights.

This is a three-bedroom, two-full and one-half-bath prairie-style home built in 1912 that is cute as a button inside and out. It’s listed by Diane Sherman of David Griffin Realtors for $497,500 — a real steal considering what you get for the money. This home is in terrific shape as it was recently taken to the studs, adding new insulation, wiring, and updated trim. And check out that wrap-around porch! There’s no better way to get to know the neighbors than to bring out a few glasses and a pitcher of something cold and just camp out on the porch!

The pine floors downstairs were refinished, and oak floors were added in other rooms. French doors, designer pendant lighting from Restoration Hardware, conversation nooks — just everything you love about historic architecture has been preserved and updated in this home to blend seamlessly in this 2,700-plus-square-foot home.

The master suite runs the length of the upstairs, giving you plenty of room for oversized furniture and a sitting area. The master bath is drenched in marble and tile, with simply gorgeous fixtures including a claw-foot tub, full-size walk-in shower, and gorgeous vanities. The upstairs hall bath has beautiful tile work, too, and a cloverleaf mirror that will make you eat your heart out.

Outside there’s a great engineered plank deck, perfect for entertaining crowds. And it’s build to last, too. There’s another huge bonus to this property. It’s the fabulous one-bedroom guest house with 682 square feet above the detached three-car garage. It’s beautifully finished out, too, with fresh paint and fixtures, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.

Add in the top-of-the-line security system, sprinkler system, gorgeous upgrades and you’ll be champing at the bit for this home! I know I am!
