Tuesday Two Hundred: Add a Second Bath to This Hollywood Heights Tudor And it Puts the “OH!” in Perfecto!

Share News:

I know that having only one bathroom in a moderately sized house is a difficult proposal for the home’s occupants. It takes, patience, sharing, and throwing modesty to the wind to make it work. And even then, well, it’s frustrating and mommy wants her wine and bubble bath, so yeah, the door is locked, so deal with it!

Ugh.

So when I see a super cute house in a great area that I totally fall in love with, I have a really difficult time dealing with the fact that there is just one bathroom. No half baths. No water closets. Just one lonely bathroom.

Now, this home does have a really superb opportunity to add a second bathroom and perhaps make a master suite. One of the bedrooms has an attached office, and even half of that office could make a passable second bath. If you’re interested in just adding a half bath, the utility room off of the kitchen would be a great second option, too. And it’s already tiled!

Otherwise, 908 Monte Vista Drive, priced at $265,000, is as cute as a button. Other than the missing bathroom, this place is ready to move in with fresh paint, beautiful floors, an updated kitchen, and a gleaming vintage bath.

This home is 1,290 square feet, which wouldn’t feel all that big if the existing walls between the living and dining spaces were still there. Instead, these two areas are open and give the home a much more spacious feel.

The kitchen has plenty of room, too, with a breakfast nook, gorgeous cabinets for plenty of storage, and tons of counter-top space, too.

There is a spacious, detached two-car garage in the backyard, which is catty-corner to a beautiful deck that overlooks a quaint rear lawn. This is an excellent spot for garden parties!

I want to know, though, am I the only one who has a hard time with the one bathroom issue?

Nope! Even if I wasn't married, I would still want to have at least a 1-1/2 baths, one for me and one for guests. I agree with your thinking process about where a second bath could go. I think I would go for a fabulous second story addition with a great master suite, including a spacious bathroom and a large walk in closet, then add a 1/2 bath downstairs near the laundry. In the end, you have a 4 bed/2-1/2 bath in a great location.

One bathroom is tough. I know. I have a family of three with one bathroom. We are looking to add on. We make it work though.

This house is so cute. I wish more home seekers could see the potential in older homes with only one batroom.

I like the kitchen remodel. I know that gaudy and well-appointed is more showy and attention-getting but this kitchen has quiet good taste.

One bath does not bother me and it would be easy to add the second – when/if you are ready the upstairs master suite is the way to go with these Tudors – in a conservation district they have to be done from the rear in a more subtle (and tasteful IMO) manner.

This home is in Lakewood/Long/Woodrow school zone. Lakewood is Blue Ribbon and the secondary schools offer IB. Woodrow is also ranked nationally for AP.
