Update: Got a blast from the past from architect Joshua Nimmo AIA, who tells me he designed these homes on Rusk. They were built and developed by Alan Kagan who had some design input.

I watched cousins of this development in the rough a couple of years ago, when I first toured the new Uptown East and The Dwellings. In what was once dilapidated homes and apartments breeding bedbugs, developers have razed and blazed. One is even making urban dwelling beautiful and affordable. These units on Rusk are quite new, so new, in fact, if you look at the google map street view it still shows a construction site!  These homes are about 1700 square feet, two bedrooms, two and a half baths, two-car garages, energy-efficient and SLICK!

Let’s start with the unique exteriors. These galvalume-wrapped row houses were designed built by architect Alan Kagan which netted him an AIA Award Winning house award for his (nearby, on Haskell) Dwellings Series. Look at the goodies in this place for the PRICE: high ceilings, expansive windows, hardwoods, marble, great appliances, the sleekest of sleek finishes. (Even a fancy commode!) Each single family row house features covered patios, private fenced yards, a two car garage & I hope you are sitting down —- NO HOA dues!! Listed with the ever modern Ed Murchison of Virginia Cook for $299,000 .

Stay very tuned. I  am planning to get over to this hood in the next several weeks and scour the place — very exciting stuff here!
