White Rock Lake
Last week’s Tuesday Two Hundred was a super-modern and sleek one-bedroom, one-bath townhome/bachelor pad on Cole Avenue. This week’s Tuesday $200K is also perfect for a bachelor, especially one who would prefer to have an office and a couple of closets.
Tax-free weekend has come and gone, and the new school year looms like the dark clouds above us. Well, at least that’s the case if you’re young enough to be heading back to school. I’m sure there are several mothers and fathers and caregivers out there that are intensely delighted about the impending school year.
Perhaps, though, there’s a family out there that is craving more space, whose young tribe needs a home with room to stretch and play in a great Dallas ISD attendence zone, to boot. For those kind of needs, I think University Terrace is a perfect neighborhood. This quiet enclave of ranch homes sandwiched by Northwest Highway and DART’s Blue Line tracks is full of great properties that have been meticulously updated.
Personal taste is such a funny thing. When it comes to gorgeous homes I can’t afford, I feel like my personal taste swings wildly in all directions, and regardless of how different one house can be from the last luxury love affair, I still picture myself moving in.
With my affinity for Craftsman bungalows, modern architecture, and Texas prairie homes, why, oh why am I in love with 7210 Lakewood? The Clifford Hutsell-designed estate doesn’t even remotely fit into any of these categories, and yet there I am, trying to find a spot for my brass-footed dining table and my reading chair.
I love it when a master bedroom feels like a retreat — nay, a vacation. My requirements for a “retreat” include 1) an amazing bath tub, 2) a place where I can sip my coffee, and 3) there is more than one sizable window from which to view something other than my neighbor’s fence.
Not only does 9023 San Leandro have all three of my requirements, but it is in Little Forest Hills, one of my favorite Dallas neighborhoods. With 2,175 square feet, this three-bedroom, two-bath charmer is one of the larger cottages in Lakeland Terrace. And you can have it all and be right next to White Rock Lake for just $347,500!
There are a lot of things that make living in Texas unique. One of them is the urban horse owner.
Now, I don’t live very far from Casa Linda Estates, where I know of at least one homeowner who has a horse or two. The lot’s big enough for a moderately sized arena and a stall. We pass by the house on an almost daily basis.
This home, 6831 Fisher Road, sits on FOUR ACRES (I still can’t believe the lot’s that large!) and has room for six horses. All inside the city limits, too.
