Big news for the DFW real estate community: Ebby Halliday Realtors has announced plans to open a new Prosper/Celina office this July.

Scheduled to open in July 2017, the roughly 5,000-square-foot office is located at the northeast corner of Highway 289 (Preston Road) and Prosper Trail in Prosper. It will be home to about 50 residential real estate agents serving the greater Prosper/Celina area. A fast-growing suburb in Collin and Denton counties with almost 18,000 residents, Prosper is 32 miles from DFW International Airport and 35 miles from downtown Dallas.

“This state-of-the-art office will greatly enhance our ability to serve the needs of the area’s growing number of home buyers and sellers for many years to come,” says Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes Dallas-based Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Fort Worth-based Williams Trew Real Estate, as well as affiliated companies Texas Premier TitleHome Team Insurance, and Home Team Mortgage Company.

The location of the new office is phenomenal, says Ebby Halliday Companies Chief Financial Officer Ron Burgert, who was instrumental in selecting the new site and building out the new office.

“Strategically situated along State Highway 289 (Preston Road), it offers easy access to the 289 and U.S. 380 corridors, as well as the Dallas North Tollway,” he said.

With thousands of people moving to Collin County for jobs with Toyota, Liberty Mutual, and many others, it’s not a big surprise that North Texas residential real estate firms are now flocking to the area.

It’s easy to forget that one firm, Ebby Halliday Realtors, has served Collin County since 1971. That’s when Ebby herself opened a one-room office in the growing town of Plano. There was a great deal of home construction going on in the area and Ebby’s office — a builder’s shack with a porta potty — was a favorite gathering spot for homebuilders who knew she always had a hot pot of coffee ready and enjoyed visiting about the potential of this small community north of Dallas.

“Keep in mind that NorthPark Center opened at the corner of Northwest Highway and Central Expressway in 1965 and that many Dallasites were of the belief that civilization didn’t actually exist north of Northwest Highway,” said Mary Frances Burleson, President and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies. “That goes to show just how visionary Ebby and her leadership team were about the future growth of the North Texas region.”

Ebby Exterior No Clouds

So much change is happening at the intersection of Preston Road and Northwest Highway. New luxury apartments are being built on the northeast corner of this busy intersection, construction cones seem a permanent fixture on the southwest corner, and Mark Cuban has bought up several lots nearby and razed the existing homes.

But the northwest corner, home of Ebby Halliday’s Little White House — the signature office of the grand dame of Dallas real estate — isn’t changing anytime soon. In fact, the iconic building was just renovated to perfection, offering gorgeous interiors for clients and the latest technology to the Ebby Halliday Realtors who office there.

“The vision for our remodel was an updated, usable, relevant space that works better; one that allows for easy collaboration between agents and staff,” said Keith Newman, the office’s sales manager. “As part of the remodel, every surface was touched, from the lobby, conference rooms, agent offices and workspaces, even the kitchen and bathrooms. While consistent with the office’s exterior, our interior is all-new, with artwork from local galleries, including paintings and vintage sculptures.”

It was probably the most beautiful memorial service most of us will ever attend, and it was totally befitting Ebby Halliday Acers, the Duchess of Dallas Real Estate as her pastor, Dr. Jim Denison, called her. The sanctuary at Park Cities Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon was loaded, as was the balcony, and I’m told it holds 3000. The church hall, which holds another 1000, was set up for the overflow.

The afternoon service was laced with beautiful music, beginning with a performance by the Happy Hill Farm Academy choir, Happy Hill being one of the many charities Ebby supported.

Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of Ebby Halliday Realtors, remembered Ebby first. Mary Frances started with the company as a temporary secretary, who Ebby asked to stay on permanently. Back then she said she made about $2.50 an hour — “Ebby was my graduate school,” she said. (more…)

Burleson, Mary Frances, August 2010 (2)

The National Association of Realtors has good taste, that’s for sure, as the organization has selected Ebby Halliday Realtors president and CEO Mary Frances Burleson to receive the 2013 Distinguished Service Award — the highest award a Realtor can receive. Burleson was recognized by NAR chief Gary Thomas for her service at the Realtor Conference and Expo in San Francisco today, Nov. 11.

Burleson, who has been a Realtor for 47 years, started at Ebby Halliday Realtors as a Ebby’s own secretary in 1958. She has helped to grow the organization to where it is now — the largest independent real estate brokerage in Texas. Along the way, Burleson has touched the lives of thousands of Realtors and people across the North Texas community and beyond.

“I am honored and grateful to accept the Distinguished Service Award,” Burleson said in a press release. “I am also extremely fortunate to be part of a profession and organization that values service to others. Realtors have a common goal to help build strong communities and work toward improving people’s quality of life; this is something I strongly believe in and have strived for throughout my career in real estate.”

It’s true: Ebby Halliday Realtors works very hard to give back to the community. And Burleson is a perfect example of that philosophy.

“I am extremely honored to present this year’s Distinguished Service Award to Mary Frances Burleson,” said Thomas. “Over several decades, Mary Frances has demonstrated a tremendous amount of dedication and self-sacrifice to the Realtor community through her involvement in numerous volunteer positions at the local, state and national level. Mary Frances has proven herself to be a leader who believes in the principle of service above self.”

Burleson also holds the honor of being the third person from Ebby Halliday Realtors to receive the coveted DSA, an industry first.

Burleson has served as a member of the board of directors at NAR since 1991 and is currently a large firm representative on the board of directors, a position she has held since 1998. While active on a national level, Burleson has served as president of the MetroTex Association of Realtors, and was named Realtor of the Year by MetroTex  — an honor she also received from the Texas Association of Realtors.

Additionally, Burleson has served on the Texas Real Estate Commission, as chairman of the board for the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Baptist Foundation of Texas, and as a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Committee. She has also been a member of the Fannie Mae National Advisory Council.

Please join us in congratulating Mary Frances Burleson on this amazing achievement!
