It all started as a bet about 6 years ago, says C. Seth Fowler, a Fort Worth real estate agent with Williams Trew. Little did he know that a friendly wager would turn into a calling card.

Now Fowler, a go-getter of a Realtor, has something in common with Bill Nye the Science Guy and Doctor Who‘s 11th Doctor, Matt Smith: A penchant for bow ties!

“So now I pretty much only wear bow ties and I’ve even had people come up to me telling me they didn’t recognize me if I wasn’t wearing a bow tie,” Fowler said. “So yeah, I guess I am ‘The Bow Tie Realtor,’ but I want to be known for my skills more than my attire.”

That’s OK, Seth. We hear that bowties are cool!

Bowties are cool Doctor Who

We asked Fowler to open up a bit about those skills as this week’s Great Western Home Loans Featured Realtor. While you can learn more about Fowler on twitter (@bowtierealtor), jump to find out why he chose a career in real estate and the place he calls his second home!

3401 Dorothy

This midcentury modern at 3401 Dorothy Lane is that kind of rare property that will find a buyer rather than the other way round. In fact, the next owner will be only the third in the vintage 1952 house’s history. The street front, deceptively simple, belies the wealth of carefully planned, abundant, interior space and decorative detail contained behind the reserved façade.

Champions School of Real Estate will host an open house at their new Fort Worth campus on Feb. 12.

The real estate market in Cowtown is growing by leaps and bounds, so of course it makes sense that Champions School of Real Estate, the premier resource for training future real estate professionals in Texas, would expand its Fort Worth campus. In fact, Champions School is opening a brand new facility with more than 6,000 square feet of instructional space.

“When we first began to outgrow our original location, we knew that it wouldn’t take long before we would have to plan for a larger campus,” said Kimberly Dydalewicz, president of Champions School of Real Estate. “We are especially pleased to offer Fort Worth Champions a new campus, because this expansion is creating greater opportunities for us to fill the needs of the Fort Worth real estate community.”

As far as amenities go, golf courses are on the way out in favor of low-maintenance, family-oriented splash pads and hike and bike trails. But for this lover of the links, there’s nothing quite like having a view of a lush, well-manicured fairway. For that reason, this 1970s soft contemporary in the beautiful Tarrant County suburb of Westover Hills has my heart.

Of course, the interiors have been completely updated and are absolutely luxurious, so that is a bonus. Jump to see inside this lovely listing from Williams Trew’s own Martha Williams.

Omni FW Penthouse TerraceWe’ve always adored the Omni Residences at 1301 Throckmorton in downtown Fort Worth, and now that Facebook is considering a large data center in North Fort Worth, perhaps the company’s executives should consider a modest crash pad inside one of the most luxurious high-rise buildings the town can call its own.

Lucky for them, they can put a bid on this beautiful penthouse unit offered by Williams Trew Realtor Maggie Moore. It boasts stunning views and top-of-the line finishes throughout. Jump to see more!

Because that’s what this exceptionally preserved two-story mid-century modern home built in 1953. It’s in the Berkeley Place neighborhood, just a jump from the Fort Worth Zoo. And folks, this home is a total time warp! It’s so immaculate that I could imagine Don Draper sitting down in one of those Eames chairs in the formal living room and pondering his next big idea. It’s a hip pocket listing from Williams Trew marketed for $649,599. I’d try to negotiate some of the furniture, to be honest. I love this home that much.

You get just an inkling of what can be found inside by looking at the clean lines and perfect paint on the outside. But guys, you have no idea. Just go ahead and do yourself a favor and jump to see the beautifully retro interiors.

3860 Bellaire Front

There is a treasure trove of untouched Midcentury Modern homes on Fort Worth’s west side, and this one happens to be an incredible architect-designed time capsule on one of Fort Worth’s most sought-after streets, Bellaire Circle.

Truly, this home is an amazing specimen of what was contemporary design back in 1951. The former owner commissioned architect Samuel G. Wiener Sr., an internationally known architect from Louisiana, to design this beauty, and it has many of the hallmarks of what would become classified as Midcentury Modern design. The rooms are spacious and open, geometrically shaped with huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Terrazzo floors span many of the common areas, and brick dividers and tall fireplaces act as accents. The ceiling sports tongue-in-groove slatting along the length of the rooms, which adds depth and the optical illusion of a much larger space. Let’s take a look inside!
