Sometimes it pays to pay attention to Facebook yard sale groups — because our Rental of the Week today is a Midcentury Bungalow that came straight from one, after its owner let the group know that she was getting ready to list her Midway Hollow rental.

Robin Barrow’s two-bedroom, one bath home is at 3955 Durango Drive, and is a perfect example of what a well-maintained rental can look like, and what a well-maintained post-war home should feel like.

And it should — it was once her own home. Outside, the curb appeal on the brick bungalow gets an assist from mature trees and spruced up flower beds.  (more…)

RichardsonClose to dining, shopping, and an easy commute, this week’s Rental of the Week may be in Dallas, but it’s zoned for Richardson ISD schools.

And did we mention it’s adorable? Because it is adorable. This two bedroom, two bath duplex is actually pretty roomy — so don’t let the word “duplex” throw you off the scent of a great rental.

With 1,600 square feet of space, it’s got two large living areas (and one has a wood-burning fireplace and access to the backyard), which is something you don’t typically find in say, an apartment.  (more…)

Sometimes you just luck into a great rental in North Oak Cliff, and this is one of those times. In a neighborhood Facebook group, Richard Akers told everyone about his newly remodeled duplex with two available units right in the heart of Kings Highway — and we begged him for more details.

The duplex is an upstairs/downstairs property, and now that the dust has settled and been cleared out from the remodel, both units are available for immediate move in, Akers told us.

“The upper unit (1315) has a dramatic stairwell entry — perfect for art!” he said. “Both units have great views of the tree-lined street and backyard.” (more…)

ElmwoodWe’ve written a lot about Elmwood — a great Oak Cliff neighborhood that’s having a bit of a resurgence thanks in part to its proximity to Bishop Arts District and its own small business district.

And despite the popularity of BAD, Elmwood is quite the force in and of itself, with about 1,373 houses and 4,426 residents, making it the most populated single-family home neighborhood in Oak Cliff.

Not ready to buy? That’s quite all right — we’ve found this adorable Elmwood Cottage that has been well-maintained and updated — the ordinary rental it is not. (more…)

LakewoodAre you a Whole Foods family, or a Trader Joes, or maybe both? We found a gorgeous Mediterranean-style duplex for rent that is perfect for every one of those choices, since it’s close to both Lower Greenville and Lakewood.

Oak CliffFinding a rental home at a semi-affordable price point can be somewhat difficult in hot neighborhoods, which is why we grabbed this two-bedroom home in North Oak Cliff just as soon as it popped up in our search.

Located at 1022 North Windomere Ave., the well-maintained home has two bedrooms, one bath, and plenty of living space in its 1,378 square feet thanks to an additional sunroom.

midcenturyTrue story: A whole lot of our readers who aren’t from Dallas but got here as soon as they could started off renting here, because it’s hard to find the perfect house in a market as heated as Dallas’ is sometimes. Which is why we paid attention when we found this Midcentury Ranch in North Dallas that is just the right size for a relocating family.

It’s also in a great Dallas ISD feeder pattern with a huge footprint and is also close to several private schools — which means that you have a really big swath of North Dallas to begin your house buying search in while you cool your heels in this 1,944 square foot slice of pretty house.

\Located at 7432 Wellcrest Drive, the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home has two living areas. A front entry hall leads you to a large living room with hardwood floors, which leads to a den with brick flooring and a fireplace.  (more…)

LakewoodDid you know one of the biggest Internet search terms in the area is “rental homes in Dallas?” True story. And when you drill down to some of the more desired areas — like Lakewood and Lakewood-adjacent neighborhoods — finding a great rental is, well, a real hunt.

So this week’s rental of the week might just satisfy the Lakewood-powered need for some, even if you have a school-aged child to think about. It’s a charming two-bedroom, one bath downstairs unit in Lakewood, located at 2619 Abrams Road.
