Lots of young folks moving to Oak Cliff are looking for a charming older home with great bones. They’re looking for fixer-uppers, diamonds in the rough, and plenty of room for sweat equity.
To me, however, that sounds like a lot of work. (If that makes me sound lazy, well, color me guilty.)
If I were looking for a home in Oak Cliff, I’d snag one of these adorable Winnetka Heights Craftsman bungalows where someone else has poured in the blood, sweat, and trips to the hardware store so I don’t have to. So you can see why 122 S. Rosemont Ave. is so appealing to me. And at $229,000, it is an incredible value.
I was reading an article on DallasNews.com earlier today when I saw one of those teasers on the sidebar that said, “Check out this Plano mega-mansion featured on TNT’s reboot of ‘Dallas’.”
I had to click, of course, if not only because I am infatuated with the new “Dallas” cast, but I wanted to see if they had some cool photos outside of the ones you saw with your own eyes right here on CandysDirt.com.
I have a 10-month-old son, so I know kids take up a LOT of space. And seeing the crib in this absolutely adorable two-bedroom, one-bath charmer in Hollywood/Santa Monica leads me to believe that these owners are in search of more room. And after getting a good look at 6938 Patricia, which weighs in at 1,118 square feet, that’s the only reason I’d every let this little beauty go!
You know me by now, right? Craftsman, yes. Tudor, no. Mid-Mod, um .. DUH!
It’s contemporary design I’ve always been on the fence about. When they are designed poorly, they are sterile, ugly spaces with oddly utilitarian — nay, institutional —finishes.
But when done well, well, they are astonishing. As my search goes on to find every house in the Dallas/Fort Worth area I can fall in love with, I’ve found a contemporary home that is warm, inviting, and just plain gorgeous. It’s 4130 Cochran Chapel, and it’s To. Die. For.
